The foods look pretty good. Try plugging in EXACT amounts to fitday to see how your percentages come out. You should be eating 65% fat, 30% protein, and 5% carbs each day. Right now, your menu seems to be too high in protein and has very little fat. Add butter and tabasco sauce to your steak. Put a full fat dressing on your salad. Broil some cheese and bacon on your chicken.

Also, try some new veggies! If you're making a salad, skip iceberg, and go for another leafy green. There are 54 veggies on the induction foods list. When I was on induction, I took that list with me to the store. I bought whatever I wanted off that list, and to this day, I'm STILL trying new veggies from the list! Some great salad veggies to buy are jalapenos, bell peppers and jicama--jicama looks a bit like a big potato, and tastes sweet and crunchy like an unripe pear. Great other veggies are pumpkin, spaghetti squash, broccoli, string beans, etc. Mix up your veggies, eat something colorful, and don't forget to cook them in butter or olive oil, or top them with cheese. YUM!

      Hi FrenchFri

I'd say that looks fine, but I'd say watch the onions - they add up the carbs fast. Peppers are the same. You get more veg for less carbs from broccoli and zucchini. Also check bacon for extra sugar.

Lunch and dinner look quite lean - I know some people add butter to veg. I add mayo to everything to boost the fat to carbs ratio.

Looks good Frenchfri! Like the others said though, try adding some more fat. Just by adding some real salad dressing to your salad instead of tabasco would be a great way.

        Good work though!

You've gotten good advice on your menu - and good for you for planning ahead! fitday.com is an excellent tool - I would be lost without it as far as tracking...Make sure to keep that fat % up - if not, I might have to come toss sticks of butter at you!

Hey there again- you gave us the fat grams for your sample menu - what were the percentages??? Those numbers are the ones you want to watch along with the net carb grams.

Yeah, I know it sounds like a lot of fat, but that's the way this works. I eat over 100g of fat/day. Sounds crazy, huh? It works!

It's not odd for me to eat over 100 grams a day either on one of my higher calorie days...Repeat after me: fat is good. fat is good. fat is good!

Seriously, I think we all balked a bit at the "it's Ok, eat fat" part when we started out especially if we had been low-fat dieters and many of us had...it's hard to adjust your mindset that the very things that were taboo before are now embraced - but as soon as you see the fat melting off of your body, you'll look at dietary fat in a whole new light!

Once it hit me that "yeah, we're burning fat for FUEL, of course we need fat" I felt completely comfortable. I mean, if your car runs on gas, you give it gas when it's empty, right? If our bodies burn fat for fuel, we need to give it fat.

Not unless you want to delay getting into ketosis and maybe increasing any cravings you might suffer for the first week or so of induction
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
