  • Is this too much? My 1st day of Induction menu.

I am new to this and starting "induction" tomorrow. I had planned on starting today, but I didn't realize how strict the induction period is, so I continued to eat low carb today, but will truly start tomorrow. This is my menu. Seems like too much. Let me know.

    Breakfast:
    Hardboiled Egg
4 small strips (precooked ready made) of bacon

    Lunch:
    2 cups salad
    1 small roma tomato
10 sprays of Wishbone Caesar Spritz dressing
Small chicken breast seasoned with garlic, lemon pepper, salt, pepper, rosemary

    Snack:
    Sugar Free Jello

    Dinner:
    Pork Chops
    Celery w. cream cheese

    Snack:
    Small bite size cheddar cheese.

As long as you eat till no longer hungry and not till you feel stuffed, then it looks fine to me.

Remember the limits on veg (2 from the 'salad list' plus 1 from the 'other veg list') & cheese (3-4 ounces).

Try not to have only lettuce as your 2 cups, but instead choose some with highercarb ones on the 'salad list' instead.

However many net carbs you eat, you need to get 'most' of your carbs from the veg you eat, so using lettuce (aka chewy water) is seriously limiting your carbs and you wont get anywhere near 20 net carbs!!

The only other thing you might need to reconsider is the sugarfree jello. Though Dr Atkins suggested making an occasional dessert from unsweetened gelatine and one of the sweeteners on the list, he did not recommend Jello as a product, and from what I read on these forums not all sugarfree jello contains 'legal' sweeteners, so check labels.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

When I had a bit of a stall, I switch all my snacks to boiled eggs. So easy and economical. I would ditch the Jello too. Do you usually eat a light breakfast? If it isn't enough, I would add another boiled egg.

hello, i just came acroos your post and have a quick question about what you said. I just started induction a day ago and still trying to understand how to distribute my carbs within the allowed veggies.

according to your post 2 cups of lettuce are not ok ? do i understand it correctly that It is because the two cups of veggies have to contain majority of the 20 carbs and lettuce is not good because it fiils the 2 cup quota but does not give the required carbs ?

Yes - if you choose lettuce as your main veg then you will only be eating a few net carbs, so you would be better off choosing one or more of the others on the 'salad list' which have more carbs in a cup.
