  • Meal plan for Day One of Induction

    I had planned to start induction this weekend, but just wasn't ready psychologically or pantry-wise. I start on Monday. I still need to get to the grocery, but here is what I have planned:

    Breakfast: Two hardboiled eggs and 1 cup coffee with heavy cream & splenda
    Lunch: Canned chicken with mayo and 1/4 cup diced celery, over 1 c. lettuce
    Snack at some point: smoked salmon & cream cheese
    Dinner: Swordfish and 1/2 fresh artichoke steamed, dipped in a mayo/lemon juice blend; salad.

    Lots of water. I'm looking froward to a great day!

      How many net carbs are in that menu? Are over half of them coming from vegetables?

        I just ran a count: 17 of the 21 carbs come from veggies. I'll need to cut out one carb.

          You should also make sure that MOST of your daily net carbs (and getting as close to 20 net is the best nutrition) are from Induction vegetables.

            Correction: Boy am I wrong! I didn't think mayo had carbs - the jar says zero, but it adds up in terms of servings. I'm going to have to switch to olive oil for my tuna and chicken salads. All of my veggies are from induction vegetables. Thanks for the heads up. I'm making changes to my menu today.

              This is my second day of induction:
              Menu:
              Breakfast: boiled egg, 4 oz sausage, decaf coffee - black
              Snack - 2.5 oz Roast beef w/cream cheese and a pickle
              Lunch - 1 cup Linda Sue's Hamburger Gravey with Mock Mashed Potatos
              Snack - 2.5 oz turkey, 1.5 oz provolone cheese
              Dinner - 4 oz Baked Salmon, 2 cups salad w/dressing

              Exercise:
              Spinning Class - 45 minutes
              Evening Walk - 2 miles 30 minutes
              Volleyball Game (I play) - 8:00 p.m. - Go Team!

              I have been exercising for about 5 months - starting the diet part yesterday - I think I did it reverse from most people. I don't have a problem working out - I just eat way to much and the wrong kinds of foods.

              I bought the Atkins journal -- took my measurements, before picture and got started.

                According to the Atkins carb counter book, 1 Tbs. of Hellmann's is 0.1 net carbs. How many servings were you planning on having?

                      Ok. I redid it all in FitDay. I now have just over 15 of my 20 carbs from the veggies. I am only eating induction veggies. I was planning on putting 1/4 cup mayo in my tuna salad, but that is too much. I cut it back to 1 tablespoon.

                      Here is today's menu now:

                      B: one boiled egg, coffee PLEASE NOTE: I used too much cream this a.m. in my coffee. This won't be a regular occurrence.
                      L: 5 oz canned tuna, 1 T mayo, 1 med stalk celery, 1/5 cup lettuce, 1 plum tomato
                      D: swordfish, 1/2 artichoke, 1 cup lettuce, 3 med mushrooms

                        Remember that Fitday show you TOTAL carbs ... you have to subtract the fiber to get net carbs.

                        You can do that in the Calories Eaten Today window.

                              Ok, FitDay says I have 7 grams of fiber in my plan for the day. So does that mean I can add more carbs? Becuase I don't have a snack in my plan and I know I'll need one.
