  • I survived Old Spagetti Factory...almost

Ok, so it was my sister’s birthday and she wanted to go out to dinner…ok great, let’s go, WHERE does she pick?
The most carb-loaded restaurant imaginable, the Old Spagetti Factory.
    :guns
As in the name EVERYTHING comes with
    pasta and bread and spumoni.
I KNEW I had to prepare. So I went online and looked at the menu and decided to have the COBB salad, no bread and a diet coke.
We got there and they brought the bread to the table for everyone (did I have a piece, no! Did I take a bite? No!)
I wanted to order my favorite Potporri platter and had to actually leave the restaurant (“to go get my camera”) take a big
breath and go back in and order my salad! I did have a tiny bite of the mizthra cheese with a tiny bit of pasta,
I LOVE THAT CHEESE, so I made her move her half full plate away from me or my willpower would have been out the door.
I did soooo well.until spumoni time. I let it sit there for a few minutes before touching it, then I caved in. But the good news
is is that it was only 15 carbs. So I didn’t blow it out of the water.
Ok, and then we go home and there is birthday cake and ice cream. (I bought a food/exercise journal at the pharamacy
and in the front it says to practice saying no thank you politely but assertively) And that’s what I did. I passed on the cake and
ice cream. I was really proud of myself. That was a really tough night. But here I am today SOOOO glad I didn’t totally over do it
I had a little cheat but am back on the losing path : )

good for you! I'm not sure I could survive Old Spaghetti Factori - I love the spaghetti with the Mizithra cheese... tis my favorite. So I avoid the place like the plague. Maybe when I reach the grain rung of Owls I might be able to eat there, but we shall see...

Thanks, it was REALLY HARD. Passing on the pasta with the mizthra cheese was torture, but passing on the cake and ice cream surprising wasn’t that bad. I just said, not thank you, I’ll pass and they didn’t push it because they know how I’m trying to eat. Could it be that I’m starting to lose cravings? Hmmm…

            congratulations but

passing on the pasta with the mizthra cheese was torture
why? Why should food be torture, or lack there of for that matter. I say fight the food demon, you are not a slave to it, you are not being denied something you truly need! Its a trap! climb out! lol

Oh my gosh, I loved the Old Spaghetti Factory. I used to go to the one in Newport Beach and Hollywood. That's one place that I won't be going for a long while though. We have one here in Vegas, but luckily it's on the other side of town. Considering, you did very well.

Thanks all! Usually I will suggest a restaurant that I know has some good low carb options. It was her birthday so I didn’t push it, but man o’man that was hard.
It really makes a huge difference being with other people and “enduring” their ways of eating. I try really hard not to let my WOE affect others negatively. I want them to enjoy what they’re eating and how, but its hard to be around that AND eat my way.
Anyway, keep up the good work everyone!
