Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
    he said, 'Don't count calories.'

I had to stop eating my "pork scratchings" (while reading this link), lol.
Just wondering, Labarum, do you agree with everything she says about the fats too?

Re: You are what you eat

I often watch the series. Each week she takes on an individual or a family as a challenge and tries to improve their diet. She has had some remarkable sucesses, but she is not promoting Attkins - hers is the healthy wholefoods approach with rather more unprocessed carbs and less fat than Atkins.

As you move up the Atkins stages the two approaches get closer.

I am not an expert, but I have made the judgement that the fats we are allowed on Atkins are not in themselves bad, but combine them with too many (processed) carbs and you have big problems.

My cholesterol fell a little on Atkins - but it was not an issue to start with. Many report a dramatic fall on a 65% fat diet. Medical orthodoxy has to be wrong! Some say cholestorol is raised by high insulin levels - low carb means low insulin so cholesttorol falls. Maybe that's it. Dunno, I'm not a physician and can't offer a medical opinion.

She did say that a little pot of "low fat" Yogurt had SEVEN teaspoons of sugar in it. That's amazing.

I think Atkins folk should note what she says about processed meats.

We get that show here in Australia. I must admit to watching it because I find Weight Lose stories interesting (because of my own struggle).

Sorry, but my humble opinion of her is that she is horrid! I can't stand her, she is such a bully!

I don't care how people justify (it's for their own good) being a bully is being a bully, The means does not justify the end!

Her show is aimed at those who are dangerously overweight and yes, she has had some results but it's how well the people she's 'helped' do over the longterm that will prove if she's in the right or not.

She's too extreme for my tastes - I'd be interested to see what she made of my fridge and freezer!

I have never watched 'you are what you eat' but the presenter MUST be annoying if she is worse than Anne Robinson, Richt!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
