    Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

Thank you, thank you Sheshy. I have seen some people limit eating Shirataki to a few times a week. I have been eating them more frequently, do you think there is an issue with eating them too often?

If you're moving up the OWL ladder, I think you just need to try them and see how your body reacts, do you get cravings or hungry earlier than you normally would? You're body will tell you if you should or shouldn't.

If you don't have any adverse reaction, you might want to limit it to a treat, once or twice a week at most...moderation is the way to go

Shelly thanks for the recipe. Any idea how many servings this is and it is or isn't Induction Friendly? My guess would be no.

Well, from one of the above posts, 2big said it was okay...but I personally didn't add it until after Induction.

And that amount is 2-3 nice sized servings.

            Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

Just make sure when you buy them you get pure glucomannan ( yam bean stuff) in your noodles there are some out there with soy added and they are NOT induction safe nor 0 carb

the real stuff is over 95% water very gelatinous stuff

              Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

Thanks 2Big and Sheshy. So far I haven't had any problems with the noodles. If anything, I find that they really fill me up, which regular noodles didn't. My blood sugars remain very stable right after and at the 2 hour postprandial reading. They really are great in the fiber department as well, which I find very helpful when you have been eating alot of meat, eggs and cheese.

                Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

WEll, I'm one very disappointed Atkineer. At our regional shops, there is a BIG Asian supermarket, stocks food for all nationalities, and lots of Cinese and Japanese noodles. I was SURE I'd be able to get these there. I planned to use them in place of pasta for my recipe of caramelised red onions, spinach and walnuts. I bought the spinach, walnuts and red onions and made my last stop on Saurday the Asian supermarket. Well, I've come to the conclusion it is not very super! I might as well have been speaking Icelandic or some other littkle known language. At first they tried to sell me shitake mushrooms! I do know the difference between a mushroon and noodle!

So no nice dish! I'll try and get some online. Everyone saying how nice they are makes me want them more!

                      Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

I bought a box of 24 of them in early December, and the expiry date is for late March of this year. Sometimes I have found these in the refridgerator case and sometimes just on the regular shelves (always packed in fluid). Once I found them in both places in the same store. As 2Big says they are kind of gelatenous (something like Chinese glass noodles), and you can find pre-made Jello in the refridgerator case, and you can also find it on the regular shelves.

They are really good in a spicey Asian style soup, very filling and a good way to get in your veggies.

                        Re: OMG....Shiritaki Noodles!

We have several Asian markets here, and all of them keep these noodles in the refridgerated section.

Would veggie category would these fall into? One cup, two cups, or not a veggie because of processing?
