  • Having a bad time!!!

I'm having a really tough time at the moment. Although I haven't gained any wieght (in fact, I've lost more) I am having to alter my plan severely due to illness.

I have had tonsillitis followed by a secondary throat infection! My throat has been so swollen the only things I have been able to eat are soup, yoghurt and sugar free jelly I got the secondary infection yesterday, so after a week back on plan, I'm back to soup and yoghurt!! Soups are really high in carbs! Been too ill to make my own!

I'm trying to get back on plan as much as possible, once I'm at a size 12, I can then move on through OWL, and I'm not far off....but just keep cheating little bits here and there (they are only little cheats not every day or huge ones) Like, over the weekend we had a take out Curry, I had a Korma, but no rice or bread)

Just feeling a little bit worried that I'm going to slack and pile it all back on.....

Emzina sorry to hear about your tonsilitis and sore throat! I'd say do what you have to do to get through this and get better first and then when you're back on top of things you can redo induction. hope you feel better soon!

First let me say that I am sorry you were sick. Now, let me say snap it all together and grab ahold of yourself sweetie and pull yourself back in before you do slip off badly. From the sounds of it you have already made it so far. DON'T mess up all of the hard work you have put in. I know that you feel bad, but just think of how bad you will feel a few months down the road will ALL of the weight back on and more to lose all over again. You really have to stop yourself. I know this may not sound very nice of me, but I am saying this because I don't want you to fall into a hole. Every time you feel like cheating find something to distract yourself. Or find a new recipe to try. And, as far as the soup it may not be AS fullfilling or AS tasty but plain or broth will work too with little to no carbs depending on the brand. STICK IN THERE YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Good luck to you.

I'm sorry that you are not feeling well. The yoghurt may feel good on your throat, but what about some heavy whipped cream with some sweetener and a flavouring? Cooking when you're sick can be difficult, but Chrisie is right, you can take some broth and boil a few sliced mushrooms in it and then add some double cream at the end, easy cream of mushroom soup. When I was in England last summer, I saw that Boots had some low carb instant soups. Perhaps Rich can come up with some other suggestions.
