    Re: FED UP. Plz help!

I second that you take a look at the soda and the salami (processed, isn't it?). I also suggest that you drink LOTS of water (I try for 12 cups a day..and lose better than when I drink less than that) and also to enter EVERYTHING into www.fitday.com and check out your ratios...you may be surprised. IF you are doing extended inductions your ratios should look close to 65%fat/5% carbs/30% protein if I remember right...if not someone will correct me.

NO FASTING! NO FASTING! NO FASTING!
Eat in Abundance. Its the Atkins Way!

I have some tough love for you. I hope you do not take my words amiss, because I can tell how hard you are trying to lose weight.

In my opinion, your comments have indicated that there are lots of things about Atkins that you simply don't understand. You need to read the 2002 DANDR, and all the stickys in the induction forum. From what I can tell the Atkins program, and the rules of Inductions haven't been followed at all.

First and foremost, if you don't eat enough healthy food the body will never release its fat stores. My guess would be you haven't been eating enough and so your poor body has no choice but to protect itself from your wacky interpretation of how the ego thinks things should be, by hanging onto every pound it can.

It works like this. You follow the rules of induction to the letter. No embellishments. Then you keep eating an abundance of healthy food. Body gets the message that you aren't going to force it to fast, starve, or over stuff it, then starve it again.

And then, and only then, body feels safe to release fat stores.

The body is not your toy to yank around, experiment with in a crazy way, or make a rushed bet over. This is no way to treat the vehicle that has served you so long and so well. The body deserves to have all the time it needs to make metabolic changes and not be a prisoner to your stopwatch.

In my opinion, you need to do the opposite of fasting. You want to do a CLEAN induction. You need to eat. Cut out all the diet soda and other sugared items. If you crave a sweet make a mock danish instead.

Make sure you get a taste of butter, meat fat and chicken skin in your mouth. That will trigger the mouth to the brain that you aren't starving.

And finally, it doesn't matter at all what the scale says. You can go down entire sizes on Atkins and show no scale movement at all. So you are placing far too much importance on a silly gadget that cannot possibly tell you anything about your metabolic processes.

If you are obsessing about your weight, making inappropriate demands on your body because of a bet, starving your body of healthy food, exercising too much, and being a scale slave, you have lost sight of whats important even if you do win your bet.

We Atkineers need to be extremely loving to ourselves and our bodies. They deserve it. That means develping long term patience and healthy eating habits. That means avoiding calorie counting and low fat rituals that are demeaning to us. And it means overcoming any obsessive thinking that sabatoges our mental health

And finally as far as your exercise schedule is concerned, remember that your body also needs rest.
Rest days will make your workout days even more effective. Quality not quantity. Abundant eating, not fasting. Peace, patience and sanity, never compulsiveness or obsessiveness. Good luck to you.
Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle
