Does anyone out there have any experience with following the fast fat?
I would appreciate hearing what you having to say about trying it.

    Thanks

why on earth would you even want to think about doing that to yourself?

      Re: fast fat

One of my friends had to follow it for a few days (and then the follow up diet) after a long time without any weight loss. She had success, but didn't enjoy it and I personally found it made her a little crabby. Is there anything in particular you were curious about?

It is possible, but really not worth the effort and the crap and the bad attitude that goes along with it. Stay away from the fat fast. Follow the book, be patient, and check your daily menus for possible stalls. But trust me when I say, the fat fast is really not worth it.

You mean fat fast, and not fast fat? Just do regular Induction.
Keep doing what you're doing & you'll keep getting what you're getting!!!

            Re: fast fat

Sorry, yes I mean fast fat. I have redone induction for the last 3 wks and lost about two pounds but I thought it might put me more into ketosis. I was just wondering if any body has lost weight on it and if it really helped rev up their metabolism since I don't have alot to lose. I'm currently at 127 pds and 5.3.

            Thanks

              Re: fast fat

It's for people that haven't lost anything. The general consensus is that if someone that has lost on regular induction tries it anything they lose they'll regain when they move back into induction once more.

                    Re: fast fat

Here's an excellent post Not2Late did about the Fat Fast. I've emphasised some of it in bold.

                    Fat Fast from Not2late

In DANDR 2002, Dr. Atkins wrote that the Fat Fast is for the people who are severely resistant to weight loss. It's not to "speed up" the rate of your loss because you believe you are losing too slowly.

According to Dr. Atkins you can be severely metabolically resistant to weight loss for a number of reasons. But you have to rule out any weight loss "stallers" that can be reversed or alleviated.

Before considering doing the Fat Fast:

                    1. Did you follow the book exactly during Induction and still didn't lose any weight?

In other words, did you only eat what was listed on the Induction Acceptable Foods list, followed the rules of Induction, exercised, took your vitamin supplements, etc. ? If you didn't do any or all of these things, your lack of weight loss might not be due to metabolic resistance to weight loss at all and you should really consider doing the diet properly before considering to do the Fat Fast.

                    2. Did you go to your doctor to have tests done for the following: hyperinsulinism, thyroid problems, and yeast overgrowth?

If any of these things apply to you, then your doctor should be able to give you treatments to help you with these problems and once these problems are solved your weight loss, typically, will improve.

                    3. Are you on any medications that can interfere with your weight loss?

Dr. Atkins cites anti-arthritis medications, steroids, hormones (birth control pills, HRTs), anti-depressants, diuretics and beta-blockers as some of the medications that can interfere with weight loss. If you are on any of these medications, you should sit down with your doctor and try to figure out if any alternatives can be given to you instead.

If you have gone through this list and have ruled out these things with your doctor, then Fat Fast might be an option for you.

Fat Fast isn't for you if:

                    1. You "cheated" through your Induction phase by not strictly following the Rules and/or eating foods not on the Acceptable Foods List or not in the quantities allowed during Induction. Those "sneaks", "cheats", and "one bites" can severely derail weight loss in some people.

                    2. You are losing weight and want to "break a stall".

                    3. You want to "speed up your metabolism" to lose weight faster.

                    4. You want to lose weight faster.

Thanks for this information everyone. That's why these forums are so great.

I will stick to induction for a few more weeks than move to OWL.

                      Thanks for the advice.

In other words, you don't have a whole lot of weight to lose (10-18 pounds?), which means it's coming off slowly.

I'm 5'9", am currently somewhere between 150-155, and I'm in the same boat as I try to get back down to 135-140. I did Induction again for two weeks, and only lost a couple of pounds--the tape measure barely budged. I've just started my third week on OWL. The weight is coming off; I can definitely see the difference. But it's slow--maybe 2 pounds a week.

Honestly, I don't think staying on Induction is necessary, especially when you have less than 25 pounds to lose. Going on to OWL and eating more vegetables won't stall your weight loss--after all, there's a reason why it's called Ongoing Weight Loss. In fact, it may help.
