  • Finding what works for you

I was just reading an interesting thread on spices and garlic, which inspired me to come out of lurkerland.

I have never counted spice carbs....never even crossed my mind too. Obviously skipped that chapter in the book.
There are so many opinions on how to low carb successfully, but surely as we all have different bodies and lifestyles, we need to find what works for us? I believe that is the important thing, finding a wol that I can and will stick too.

However if i ever stall, I will start counting those spices!!
I do this woe to the best of my ability, and try to eat in the spirit of good health, as well as just trying to lose weight. So far I am losing so my way is working for me. And I do break it...every weekend I have a drink! Hey, but it used to be every night, ahhh but sacrifices do have to be made.

So my point is....are we all not right? If we are losing weight and are getting more healthy?
But I love to read what other people have done, so that I have room to move in the future.

Every little bit counts. It's good to know exactly what you're putting in your mouth and to learn how it effects or doesn't effect you.

You've learned that your carb counts are higher than you thought and you've learned that you can continue to lose and whatever level of carb that is. Don't you think that's handy information to have?

      Are we all right? No.

I think it was best put this way:
if you say you're going to play baseball but you don't use a bat and you run the bases backwards, that's not really baseball. that's all i'm saying. -sidparadise
Sure, we all have to find what works for us, but there does come a point where the tweaks and adjustments take you outside the realm of a written plan and have you doing your own thing. This is where I take issue. If you're "inducting", using frankenfoods, adding a little of this and a little of that - be they rung foods or other foods - you're not following an Aktins induction and to represent it as such is hardly fair. It's a huge part of what has perpetuated the myths that abound about our WOE.

I'm all for whatever works! If it works for you, work it! But if you're loosely following a plan, say so! "I'm following a low-carb plan that's based on South Beach/Atkins/Protein Power." Saying something like that doesn't leave much room for debate!

      JMHO.
