The book says we can eat eggs "liberally." Does that mean we don't count the carbs in them? I think I read that one egg has .8 carb grams or something. So how literally do I interpret "liberally"?

Re: Stupid question about eggs
NO, we count all carbs. It means you do not have a limit on the number of eggs you can have it it takes a 6 egg omelette today to satisfy your hunger then you can have it but you do need to count all the carbs in everything veggies spices, herbs, cheeses condiments, eggs and anything else that might have some.by the book atkinseer

Re: Stupid question about eggs
Dr. Atkins believed that it was relatively difficult to eat too many eggs, as they are very filling.

Re: Stupid question about eggs
All the sources I've just looked up seem to say .4 - .6 carbs per large / extra large egg. Theoretically, then, for induction, could one make three 2-egg omelettes for meals throughout the day, dividing their cheese and veggies between them and eating their salads inbetween those meals?

Re: Stupid question about eggs
Dr. A said to eat eggs liberally. I get sick of eggs if I eat them daily. I need a break from them.
You all should try farm fresh eggs. They are 100% better than store bought. You just aren't living until you've watched a chicken lay an egg, picked it up washed it, cooked it and eaten it! I LOVE living on a farm!!!

Re: Stupid question about eggs
Hmm...must have been a change in the 2002 edition. I hate to say it but I have only checked this one out from the library. Tried to buy it on Ebay, then the guy sent me the wrong thing...need to buy it! Sorry about the mess up, but he did say liberally in 1999 edition.
Originally posted by BrenJust so you know. Dr. Atkin put guidelines on eggs of 4-5 daily.

Re: Stupid question about eggs
I don't recall that limit either -- it's certainly not in the 32 instances of eggs in the book (so there Bren :>). Even the mathematical limitation considering the majority of your carbs should come from veggies limitation would be closer to 12 (7.2g) or 13 (7.8g of Carbs). IMO, if you are below a dozen eggs per day, you should be fine if not a little boring with your menu choices. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.
