Re: Poll: Controlled Cheats On Xmas Day

I am totally anti cheats, controlled or otherwise.

For sososososososososo many people it just invites a binge.

And, you know, New Year's Eve is only a week away. It's supah dupah easy to say, "Well, I'll just eat junk food until the 31st and then REALLY get back on plan!"

It just snowballs. I seriously will sit on anyone who thinks they're being clever by sneaking something off-plan during the holidays. I mean, honestly. I'll bounce up and down on your bladder, too. Just. Like. This.

I'm visualizing, and all I can say is "OUCH!"

She means it, folks, so you'd better watch it. And if she stands up, it would be even worse. Just one of those huge feet bouncing on your bladder and you'll still be retelling the experience to your great-grandchildren on your deathbed!

I'm wearing my crocs, so standing on the whole bladder thing has never been more soft and cushiony before. Well for me, anyway.

        Don't make me do it.

Re: Poll: Controlled Cheats On Xmas Day

No I didn't cheat. I even lost 7 pounds throughout the holidays last year. Now that was something to celebrate. The thing that kept me from cheating was making a great holiday dinner. I made prime rib, creamed asparagus, a sugar free cranberry jello, and cheesecake. It was delicious and I didn't feel like I missed out on anything.

I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!

Did you come off plan on Christmas Day last year? Yes or no?
If yes, was it a planned and controlled "cheat", or did you lose the plot entirely?
Did you find you planned cheat helped get you though the Day without turning it into a carb fest? Or did one cheat lead to another and another?
If you managed a planned cheat, looking back, do you think that was OK, or do you wish you had kept 100% on plan?
Last Xmas, I was not on the diet at all. I was gaining weight at the astounding rate of about 10 lbs. per month! There was no control whatsoever over my eating. This continued until nearly the end of Feb. 2006, when upon seeing my picture (see "Before" below), I headed here.

Here, over time, I'm learning more daily about my weaknesses regarding foods. While I most likely WILL have at least a taste of everything placed on my plate, I'll make sure only very small tastes of problem foods are put there. Also, I fully intend to account for every carb, and try to have my system both devoid of carbs and metabolically revved up immediately prior to the big meal, if possible.

Our family traditionally lets each person at the table be responsible for serving one item as plates are passed.
