  • My plan for sticking to OWL this weekend

I'm posting my plan so that I have to stick with it. Next two days have people here from out of town. Wil be cooking today for them. I will BBQ ribs and chicken, some with sauce some without. Grill veggies. Have nuts for snacks and red and green salsa with veggies to dip. Tomatoes and mozzeralla sliced and layered drizzeled with olive oil and sprinkled with basil. All this is o.k. for me. Bought some low carb breyers ice cream so that I will not cave in to the regular ice cream for desert. But I will have carb food available for others. Am buying some prepackeaged potatoe salad and coleslaw for convience and I can surely skip that. Bought some chips for the salsa. I'll have the veggies. Plan on making some Hummus and will leave that alone too. Problems I anticipate and am mentally dealing with. One woman brought some bars of 70% dark chocolate. I ate a small piece last night. But the good news is that I had a small bit and stopped. Not too long ago I'd have finished the whole thing without even thinking. Will not touch the stuff today, I'm done with it. Another woman brought some boudan(sp) from Louisiana, for those that don't know what this is its a rice and pork stuffed sausage. This stuff ususally give me heart burn anyway so I'm going to cook it and let everyone else eat it(get it out of the house before they leave).
My plan and chocolate confession are here in writing so I'm off to impliment the plan, I weigh in on Monday so that will help me with the temptations today.

BBQs are a blessing for Atkineers. Meat is filling, so when I go to a BBQ, I fill up on the meat as much as possible so I am not tempted by the other carby foods. Be very careful with that low carb ice cream. It tastes so good that it is easy to overeat it and it usually has sugar alcohols, which aren't good. For all ice cream, a serving is 1/2 cup, which is so itty bitty.

Did pretty good today. One woman brought doughnuts over this morning. I didn't touch them. Ate salad with ham and chicken for lunch. Snacked on nuts and some hummus but used cucumbers instead of chips for the dipping vehicle. Did have two servings of low carb ice cream and another bit of dark chocolate and a couple of glasses of wine. But didn't touch the potatoe salad, coleslaw or boudan. Had regular ice cream and hot fudge for others and left it alone as welll as the fresh cut pineapple.I'm proud of myself, even though I'm not perfect I know what could have happened with all those tempting carbs. I proved to myself that I can have control yet still enjoy food and people without going out of control.
