How long does it take for protein to be converted into glucose?

My protein percentages have been in the high 30s this week. I've been trying to balance things out, but I don't want to eat more if I'm not hungry, just to get my percentages correct. I know that excess protein is converted to glucose, but how long does that process take, and how much is "excess?" I haven't had a problem with percentages in the past, and I think it's higher because I've been eating a lot of grilled chicken this week. If anyone has answers to my questions, it would be greatly appreciated.

actually i the conversion can start with in 30 min of eating

Dr Atkins knew that some of our protein consumption would be converted to sugar and that was okay caus ewe do have sugar only feeding parts of our bodies like redblood cells. you can never go back and eat more fat to make it up which is why we try to get folk to check the foods before they eat them.

the body will take all protein not needed for repair and growth and store what it can as free pool amino acids in the orgajns and cells but musslcs but their is a limti to the amount that can be stored and the excess is converted to glucose for storage. the amount of excess you have will vary by the day depending on what you did and fow you are feeling.

So chek your foods out fisrst and remeber it tasked very kittle added fat to a meal maybe a teaspoon to greatly alter the ratios

I don't think I've ever seen a time limit on protein digestion. But basically, when you eat, your body will break down the food into its nutrient components. If you eat excess amounts of any food, your body will convert it to sugar, and excess of that will be stored as fat.

Protein amounts on Atkins is higher than the recommended protein intake. The recommended amount is about 1 gram per kilogram body weight. So if you weigh 60 kilograms, it's 60 grams of protein. But we don't use that formula on Atkins.

Just try to remember that the protein stays about 30% of your daily calories.

        Thanks 2big for your answers!
It's kind of been stumping me this week, and I thought I'd post it, because I knew you'd have the answers for me.

I don't know if the extra protein has affected me--I have had a pretty good workout schedule this week, and I did manage to lose 3.5lb. I guess I'm not incredibly freaked out...but it's still a stumper because I have been adding butter to my meals, (I don't like meat that's fatty, nor do I eat poultry skin) a pat or two on my veggies, a couple pats on my omelette, and with the chicken, I ate it with buffalo sauce, which is butter and Frank's. So, at each meal, I'm basically having like, 2 or 3 pats of butter. If I eat a salad, I use a dressing with 20g fat per serving! I'll just have to be more careful, like you said. I am a person who LOVES meat, and so I will really have to be watching my portion sizes now.

Thanks again for your prompt reply!

          Thanks not2late--
I've been good about keeping it right around 30% since August, but now suddenly it's been in the high 30s this week, and one day it was 42%! I must be eating HUGE chicken breasts. My carbs are still low--they haven't changed really--I have higher protein and lowered fat percentages. I know my fat needs to be lowered in a trade off with having more carbs, and my protein should remain unchanged. I guess at least I'm not overdoing it on carbs and am saving on glucose storage that way...sheesh, who woulda thought eating could be so difficult?

I dunno--I'll try twice as hard this week to balance my meals and percentages.

just try having a few bites less chicken or whatever meat you got and see if you are still hungry. if not stop and save it for later. most folk get into issues with too much protein when they either loew fat it or decide they will eat causa it is legal and they got tummy space to hold it.
