  • A motivation technique - wearing your weightloss

    I am watching the biggest loser right now and they are doing a challenge. What i found interesting is that in this challenge the people have to put on the amount of weight they have lost and run a mile with it periodically dropping off the weights as they move around the mile. The people when putting on the weights were talking about how heavy it was etc. i am not sure what i am trying really to say here but this challeneg really hit something in side of me. I think because ultimately i want to lose 130 lbs total. i picked up something that was 20 lbs which is what i have lost and put it around my shoulders and walked around, even for that short time the weight addition was so significant.

    I think a good motivational thing in the fuiture for me will be to remember what the additional weight feels like. When i think i want to quit or i see myself faltering in keeping going, carrying around the weight i have lost depending how madly i am down and out for an hour to a day etc.. i think will help me keep understanding the difference.

    Sometimes its a danger to "forget", if that makes sense.

      grins, i would love to be in a position that i have something TO forget for now lol but pretty soon i will, and then i will whine and cry about it lol when i decide to "wear" my weightloss lol.

        oh my stars - I'm trying to imagine me carrying the weight I am going to be minus once I reach goal. That would beeeeeeee 255 pounds - I don't think I'd be able to carry that. I honestly don't know how I am doing it right now.....ok wait, I released 49 of that , but still. Wow. I thank God (THANK YOU GOD) that I can walk at this weight.

        Its a good idea though - so we don't forget.

          Good point, Sher. Thanks for sharing. I have lost almost the size of one of my kids. And carrying them up our stairs seriously makes my legs wobble -- they are like little iron packages, I swear. Totally dead weight!

            I have tried carrying my kids on my shoulder who weigh not nearly as much as I lost, and OHMYGOD! I can barely walk anymore with that weight on me. Perhaps I deluded myself on how well I could back then, but that is a great way to drive home the point you never want to go back there.

              I would have to carry another current me around!! I cant imagine how I did it all those years.

              Thank you Dr Atkins and the members of ADBB for helping me become half the woman I once was!!

                Just think about how much better our knees and other joints are going to be. No wonder they hurt so much when we think about it this way.

                  Chuckles, here is my horoscope for today:

                  Shed restrictions the way a snake gets rid of an old and useless skin. It might take a few more wiggles than you're used to, but the efforts will be well worth it. Once you're free, your opportunities will expand.

                  I thought based on what we are talking about here lol it was appropriate for this thread.
