I lost 7kg the first week and 4 kgs the next, then 1 kg per week for 4 weeks, then 2, then nothing for 2 weeks, and 2 this week. Don't ask me, but I did start the gym last week (so I've been 'gymming' for 11 days). The 11 kgs (25.5 lbs approx) during induction was a lovely boost, but I did start off with a whole person to lose - I was 131 kg and want to be 60 (or thereabouts - I'll know when I get there). ( 1kg = 2.202 lbs)
But as others have said, everyone is different. I'm eating all fresh food, whether that makes a difference or not I don't know. I don't much like prepared stuff, I prefer to know what's in it, and I loathe sweeteners - to me there is always an aftertaste. I loathed sugar too, I used to have honey in my coffee, but have learned to like my decaff without and sweetening.

I only lost 2 pounds the first week.. but you know.. I really wanted to make this WOL a part of my life, so I was taking it slowly, easing myself in, learning as much as I could.. I remembered from past attempts that the first week was always the hardest.. so I didn't exercise and just concentrated on getting past the withdrawal stage .
Second week, I lost 4 pounds. third week I lost NOTHING (stupid third week Post-induction-stall-syyndrome!!)
Fourth week, I was on my way with 3 pounds down and gaining momentum!

I lost 10 LBS first week and 5LBS the second when I first started. It helps to drink lots of water and eat small portions throughout the day..This worked for me!

Man, all of you are so helpful! I'm just re-starting Atkins, and I'm really eager to lose 30 pounds by January 7th, 2006 (my brother's wedding). I weigh 295 right now, and am desperate.
I have to say that I've never been good at the induction phase. I find that I eat nuts and cool whip, which I know are not allowed during this phase. How much does that really impact the result? Should I really try to stick directly to the plan at this point?
Has anyone done the induction phase and not stuck exactly to plan (still keeping under 20 carbs a day) and been successful?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

It is better to be hated for who you are, than loved for who you are not.

There probably have been many people who do their own version of induction, allowing themselves 'illegal' foods and still losing BUT - I wonder how well they would have done by sticking to the rules
After all - it is only 14 days of your life and then you can start to move up the OWL ladder and add carbs, or do a 'modified OWL' where you move up the ladder but keep your carb level low.
I dont know about you but when I started at 280 pounds I wanted to get the weight off FAST, so tried my best to stick to the rules to give my body the best chance.
You might want to ask yourself why you feel that allowing yourself to eat nuts and coolwhip (which I think is not allowed even in later Atkins phases, let alone induction) is more important to you than losing weight
Also take a look at the recipes section of the forum for 'legal' substitutes to coolwhip and snacks other than nuts.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies? Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
I started Monday, as of this morning (Saturday) I've lost 7 lbs. Female, over 50, second time around trying this. I'm re-reading the book, not just skimming through. I check this board at least once a day. I'm following induction strictly and drinking the water religiously (something I've always had a problem with.) I'm walking 30 to 50 minutes a day. I figure with my age and the fact that I have about 100 lbs to lose, I'm going to do this as close to the letter as I possibly can. I know it's not going to happen overnight but it won't happen at all if I don't do it.
I made the mistake of just making sure I ate no more than 20g a day, but by eating illegal foods. Plenty of sugarfree jello etc.
I didn't put on any weight, but I didnt lose any either. And that was for a few weeks. I'm now back on induction eating nothing but the basics, and I wish I'd not given in before, because I would have lost a lot more weight than I have up until now. It's not worth it.
