  • Vegetarianism.

    Hey all,
It's obviously been a long time since I last posted here. Two years. I'm now in college, and nineteen, and just a lot different from the person I used to be. For example... I'm now a vegetarian! But I remember utilizing the Atkins diet back in the day and it really did work for me. I found the smallish blurb about vegetarianism and Atkins, but I don't know... I'm not sure it can really be done. And I realize I'm the minority here, but I was just wondering if any fellow vegetarians were around. I can accept seafood back into my life (I just ate tuna for the first time in years the other day to see how my body would react) but I don't know if I can survive with the limiting factors. Advice or comments would be much appreciated - I need to lose weight!

    Re: Vegetarianism.

Hi Frozen, I'm nbot a vegetarian but I thoguht I would tell you that I've read a nubmer of success stories written by vegetarians that have succesfully done Atkins. It seems to me that the two things they all have in common are

    1. Not being strict vegans - they generally eat eggs, cheese and dairy and sometimes fish/shellfish.

    2. Following as closely to plan as possible but switching up some of the rules so that they get the protein they need earlier then the plan would normally allow, for example: extra cheese during induction and allowing nuts, earlier introduction of soy and legumes during OWL.

Couple of interesting sites you might want to look at

I hope someone who IS a vegetarian comments on this but either way best of luck to you on your journey togood health.
