  • 100th day

Today marks my 100th day on Atkins.

    I am content and happy.

My weight fluctuates between 122-123 lb and I am eating normally. My indulgences include 2 cups of coffee with half and half, one glass of white wine and eating out one meal daily at a restaurant (I am on summer holidays). As I said I am quite happy.

But... I am always prepared for temptation, no matter where I go I take macedemia nuts and small cheese rounds with me (does not need refridgeration) in case I get hungry and there is no legal food around.

I can wear size 8 US and all the current fashions, which I go easy on as I am past menopause. But... I was at an outdoor festival yesterday and a cool looking guy in his early forties made quite a fuss over me... hmmm... it didn't exactly hurt....

The only time I "cheated" so far was two days ago, a long time friend died, he was quite young. I ate two of my favourite licorice sticks to console myself, but I don't seem to like their flavour any more. I guess the taste changes, I like my Stevia and I don't like the taste of sugar.

One's taste really does change over time. I think 100 days is significant because with drug addiction they celebrate after 90 days, some of my friends had to go through that unfortunately. So I figure it should be similar with food addiction. I seem to have broken my carb addiction.

    Wonderful, simply wonderful.

I try so hard to convince some of my friends that this is the result of this WOE. I don't think they believe me but you have hit the nail on the head. Isn't it great to have control of that part of your life?

          Re: 100th day

Thank you for letting me share my celebration with you. It is wonderful not to be controlled by food any more, not to have to think about it except for a few minutes a day, to be able to enjoy myself with people in all kinds of situations. I tend to be shy and feel akward when I don't fit in. For example, when I talk with my family and friends about watching what you eat there is no understanding, none of them watch their diet at all and think I am a bit of a nut to check my weight regularly. But then again, none of them are very healthy either and they don't seem to make the correlation.

In contrast, the people at this forum are so amazing. We face the same challenges wherever we live in the US or the UK or Canada or New Zealand etc.I read even when I don't post. You are my inspiration. I have never been able to stay on a diet for more than two weeks in my whole life until now. However, this way of eating (I am on pre-maintenance) feels quite natural and healthy to me. But I know I would never have done it without your motivation and inspiration. Thank you so much.

              Happy 100th day

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
