good morning to all my peeps here in atkins land. i hope it's ok to post this here; not sure where to put it but my rationalization is that atkins is part "eating" and a HUGE part "motivation....so here i go.
like so many of you right now, i am dealing with "life" and a bit of discouragement in my own atkins plan. i techinally reached my own goal back in june. since then i have been literally bouncing up and down 4-5 pounds, i saw 149 once but it was a fleeting glimpse. my final goal is 140-145. i have always exercised but recently restarted at the gym so i am hoping that the extra weight training will help jumpstart a loss. i have also upped my cardio which i love in the hopes that it will help too. yesterday i got some very helpful advice from a pal here on the board about my protein/fats ratios....gonna put that to good use as well.
yesterday while i was sweating away on the precor at the gym, oprah had a segment on with marie osmond. she was asking marie about her appearance on tv, her divorce etc. marie's answer was so simple but so PROFOUND. she said "i would rather climb a mountain than crawl into a hole."
how many of you want to just give up and "crawl in a hole"....i guess some days it would be really easy to do. give up, throw in the towel, it's just 10 more pounds, right? why bother? or maybe you think the goal you have is insurmountable. since i began atkins I HAVE LOST 70 POUNDS! every day it thought that number was overwhelming. but every day that number got smaller and smaller.
i guess my point is this. nothing good was ever achieved without effort. nothing in this life is free. on those days that you feel you are not making progress or maybe it is just too hard, ask yourself "would i rather climb a mountain or crawl into a hole?" crawling into a hole takes more effort than you think. you aren't going to like it there. the mountain, well, it is tough and steady work but you are going somewhere!!! there is HOPE in climbing the mountain. once you are in the hole, well, that's about all there is.
make today your first day...mentally....ask YOURSELF that question. it's really quite simple isn't it? if you don't climb the mountain, will anything change? and is that what you really want? you have two choices. you are in control. and friends, the view from the top is incredible! let's go!
