or so I like to call myself.
But I am done with this self-sabotaging way of thinking because it gets me nowhere. Anyway, I'm Kristin, a 21 year old female who is a respiratory therapist/student. I lost 70 pounds on weight watcerhs 2 years ago, and have gained it ALL back since starting school. I would love to start atkins simply because I believe I can stick to a more structured way of eating than a liberal one (im weird) so if any of you have any words of motivation, tips, anything to get me back on my road to weight loss, I woud be very thankful. My self-image is affecting everything in my life, especially my relationship with my boyfriend, and it's not fair for him to listen to his girlfriend call herself fatty mc fat fat all day...please help!!! <3

Kris -- the first step is to get Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution. Lots of great information there -- many people have misconceptions about Atkins, that should really help clarify the plan for you.

I'm glad to see you referred to Atkins as a "way of eating" rather than a diet. We may not always be perfect around here (not hardly), but one thing the folks who have been most successful have in common is a true belief that this a way of eating for life.

To get started, look around the board, read some success stories, check out some journals. Check out the exercise challenges -- a whole slew of new ones will start up in January. Think about what kind of exercise you want to do -- exercise is a non-negotiable part of this way of eating, according to Dr Atkins. And it makes a huge difference in both your weight loss and inches! (Take your measurements before you start -- you'll be amazed to see the fat melt off...)

    Best of luck to you!

Soon you can be "skinny mc slim wonder" instead of "fatty mc fat fat". I'm probably to old to be creative, but welcome to the board anyway. You will do terrific.

          What I know:
          1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.

This may be a bit too personal, and if it is, I apologize. But you are right in regards to your BF. Sooner or later, he will start believing you when you express your lack of self esteem....you will convince him that you are not worthy of him. So all I would like to add is, you must love yourself, and it seems you're heading in that direction. Remember, YOU are not your weight. You're heart and soul are not your weight. When you think of your excess weight, try to think of it only as a medical condition that you need to heal. YOU are a wonderful person with a lot to offer. Believe it!

            Been there, done that.

              Hi! Welcome to this WOE

I agree with what chicklady says - especially since I was there at one point and it led to a bunch of problems.

Start looking at yourself as being thinner! Soon you will need to go shopping for smaller clothes! Measure the inches - I wish I did now that I look back but I wasn't sure I was honestly committed at first (it took me about 4 weeks to really say to myself that I was done looking the way I did and then I found this board)

Check in daily if possible - it is so helpful and can keep your sanity level under control. Most everyone here has been where you are at and they can help you through the next phase and let you know you aren't alone!

Look forward to before and afters

                  Hey girl,
I know you sent me a PM and I wrote you a little in there, but like everyone else says the first step is to lose your nickname. Try Mc Lovin yourself! haha sorry bad joke I know.

Anyway I definately agree with the person who said to take your measurements...measuring tapes don't lie! Sometimes when the scale doesn't move the inches still fall off!! I am going to get my bf to measure me today, as I'm restarting after my holiday flop. =o(

Heya! Welcome to the board! Just like everyone else says, excercise, measure and weigh, but dont weigh too much cause then you'll get discouraged. We're all here to support each other and like Kristen said, totally Mclovin yourself, I mean, that's what I try to do when my thoughts veer off towards errrrm, me calling myself fat...like all the time. I just tell people "P-H phat. yo..." Anyway, keep in touch and keep updating us with how you're doing! <3 Welcome welcome. Ya, Im random, but whatever. =P
