    Re: diet pill?

I am not certain, however I am pretty sure that Atkins states that you should not take any type of diet medicine w/ this diet. Like I am said I am not for sure, but pretty sure. Yeah, I know this helps, right?! (Being sarcastic)

If there truly was a diet pill that worked, there would be NOBODY who was fat. There are people around that are BILLIONAIRES and could afford any pill that ever was. Yet, we constantly look to something on the drug store shelf for $19.99 that's going to be the miracle cure.

I have something far far better and it's almost free. WATER! Lots of it, pure water, nothing else.

          Re: diet pill?

People who take this so-called 'carb neutralizer', are not on low carb diets. They instead are on high carb diets but believe they can just pop this pill and eat anything and the carbs will not be used. Mmm.

Reminds me of the diabetics who think they can go on eating sugar and other high carb junk and just 'neutralize' it by continually upping their dose of insulin. Where has that led?

Joy is right, the only thing this is good for is making money for the makers who are laughing all the way to the bank. I agree with puddles - take it back and get a refund.

I would beware of side effects. It seems like all those diet pills have them and some are serious. Like ... don't leave home without a change of clothes because you will not be able to control your bodily functions. Ugh! I have tried a few pill over the years. Not that one. Not one of them worked except Hoodia and then I can't say that it really worked. It did make me less hungry, but I hate taking pills so it was annoying and I didn't stick with it either. Pills seem to be more of a quick fix and as the saying goes... the weight didn't come on overnight and it won't leave that way.

Things I've read about this product....It's made from an extract of the white kidney bean, and it mice studies it does block some of the carbs they were fed. One of the problems is, the pill breaks down in the human stomach, and it needs to be breaking down in the small intestines (hmmm maybe that's vise versa) One of the other problems is your mouth-----saliva contains amylaze (sp) which starts to break down carbs right there in your mouth.
              In other words----return it.

Top 5 Weight Loss Diet Pills For Successful Weight Loss

The funny thing is that the trashy diet pills products prevail in number over the good ones. This is due to the facts that you do not need time for tests on a new crappy weight loss pill product. Just warp it up in a shiny pack with beautiful name and a bunch of unknown "herbal" and "healthy" ingredients list on the pack and you are done. Ready for the next "great" weight loss product? Oh, yeah, you’ve got plenty of time.

This is pretty much the scheme. But do not fall into the trap of the number of ingredients, the pretty catchy name of the product, or the multiple ads you see all over, or the number of items that are said to be sold already. All these mean nothing, so do not allow them to blur your judgment and to end up buying some crappy product that promises magic weight loss results in no time.

On the contrary - the good weight loss pills products are made of herbal and originally grown herbs, or from imported ones from China, Japan, Africa and other parts of the world specialized in particular herbs grow. The chemical tests and analysis of the ingredients and their blend takes time. The tests on the final product also take time.

In fact, it may take a couple of years before a diet pill product actually hit the market. But when it does you can be 100% sure that this weight loss pill product is completely safe and features unique properties that can help you lose weight successfully without unwanted side effects.

This is the advantage of the good diet pills – the quality, the tests that prove they really work and the guaranteed safe weight loss effect.

Let’s get to the point… Which weight loss diet pills truly deserve your attention and are not just hype. Also are proven to work and have certificates for maximum quality. Well, our scientists have been doing tests and researches all the time, here is what we recommend:

                    Re: diet pill?

                    Regarding carb blockers...

The only effective carb blockers I know are anti-diabetic prescription drugs like Acarbose. Unfortunately, they only slow down the breakdown of starch, not sugar.

                    Regarding Hoodia...

Hoodia works as an appetite suppressant, however consider that it takes five years for the hoodia plant to grow such that it can be harvested. Also, it only grows in the wild so there's no hoodia farm out there. This means that hoodia is quite scarce. It's so scarce that Mike Adams of NewsTarget.com estimates that 80 percent of Hoodia products are counterfeit.

                    How is this possible?

                    1. Companies that sell hoodia dilute their products such that you don't get the concentrations needed for hoodia to work.
                    2. Companies genuinely believe they are selling authentic hoodia, but they are deceived by unscrupulous suppliers in Africa.

                    From Mike Adams article:

The problem is that it's really tough to know which companies to trust. There are companies that will post counterfeit CITES certificates -- Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, a document required to sell hoodia and verify that it has been obtained through legal channels. They can fake the lab tests by submitting a genuine batch for approval and then replacing it with adulterated material in the actual production run. They can steal CITES certificates from other companies and then use Photoshop to replace the company name. There's even evidence now that some companies are using soluble material to cut their product in a way that is difficult to detect in laboratory testing. Hoodia supplement retailers and sellers are certainly coming up with very creative ways to keep selling the counterfeit product without anyone knowing.

But whether it's real or not is really only one part of the question concerning hoodia. As I've said, my estimate is that 80 percent of the hoodia being sold today contains no genuine hoodia gordonii. Not all the people selling hoodia are crooks: wholesalers have swindled some into thinking they're buying real hoodia when, in reality, they're being hoodwinked.
Another interesting note from the article:

The supplements that are consistently verified as being genuine hoodia gordonii include the Desert Burn brand, the Hoodoba brand from Strictly Health Corp., and the Hoodia Hoodia brand from Millennium Health. Those three pass on a more consistent basis than the products being distributed in retail, in fact.
Note that Mike Adams does not list any of the brands kimcuongtranthi lists in the post above. Now lest you think that Adam's listing of hoodia brands that are verified mean that those brands are legit, consider this article by Cathy Wong...

But according to ConsumerLab.com, an independent lab in White Plains, New York, there are no definitive, established tests for judging the quality of hoodia products at this time. ConsumerLab.com does not test hoodia products for that reason.
In others words, I wouldn't gamble on hoodia. But is you really want to be rid of your money, I suggest donating to the ADBB.

People really love to jump all over a post and throw around ideas without doing the research required, huh? The poster was asking about a certain pill. Carb intercept, most likely made by Natrol and most likely with an ingredient called "Phase 2" in it. Not a miracle diet pill. Not to mention that water is not a miracle ingredient either.

Second of all. No - Carb intercept is not a miracle pill. However, it has been shown in studies to block a certain percentage of carbs from being absorbed. There was a study in 2001, at the University of Scranton where a double-blind placebo study was conducted with humans. The studies showed similar results. A percentage of the carbs being neutralized.

                        From virilityhealth:

"The leading clinical study carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of Phase 2 was a study conducted in Italy in September 2001. This was a study on 60 volunteers who were given a capsule before their high starch meals consisting of either 500 mg of Phase 2 or a placebo. After 30 days the Phase 2 group had experienced an average weight loss of 2.93 kg (6.45 lbs), which was 3.9% of their body weight and 10.45% of their body fat. The placebo group had an average weight loss of 0.34 kg (0.75 lbs)."

                        "
A similar study was carried out in the United States in December 2002. In this study volunteers who were given Phase 2 to take before their high starch meals lost an average of 3.8 lbs over 8 weeks, this being an over 200% greater loss than those on a placebo. They also lost an average of 1.5 inches from their waist measurements, this being a 43% greater loss than those on a placebo."

                        "
Another such study was conducted in Norway and published in September 2000. This study used 40 obese volunteers and over 12 weeks the Phase 2 group achieved an average weight reduction of 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs), this comparing to a loss of 1.2 kg (2.6 lbs) for the study's placebo group. In addition body composition measurements showed that more than 85% of the weight loss achieved by the Phase 2 users was fat loss."

                        "
This study was repeated in November 2001, with volunteers again taking 1500 mg of Phase 2 before eating starch. This time their glucose level was on average 85% lower than the placebo group, meaning that only 15% of the glucose available from the food they had eaten had found its way into the body. The glucose also peaked 15 minutes earlier and cleared from the blood about 30 minutes earlier than occurred with the placebo group."

My father has been taking these for over a year now. He watches what he eats, but he also eats pasta, pizza ... etc. He has lost quite a bit of weight and has not gained it back. He is living proof the stuff works, not to mention the many studies.

I wouldn't recommend someone to go on a splurge and eat whatever carbs they want and pop this pill in to save the day. However, someone on a reduced carb plan, such as Atkins, could potentially use this as they are moving throughout the rungs to neutralize a percentage of certain carbs to aid them in their diet.

I'm sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but I tend to deal in the realm of facts and not quickly drawn conclusions that are based on nothing.

Or, an energy drink for someone who works at a job where he goes up into attics and down into basements, carrying out 200-500 pound refrigerators, 800 pound safes, 100 pound couches, day in and day out, several times per day. Some days when he goes into work he gets estate cleanouts where he gets to clean out an entire house, top to bottom, in just a few hours. Making hundreds of trips up and down stairs, carrying very heavy objects. Perhaps?

And I was responding to the posters who replied talking about miracle diet pills ... what does that have to do with the original posters question? The original poster asked about a specific product which has been studied and verified to work to a certain degree and many people respond with "There are no miracle diet pills ... blah, blah, blah" .... which in fact had very little or nothing to do with the thread.

I consider these publications untrustworthy because they promote misinformation, espouse unscientific theories, contain unsubstantiated advice, and/or fail to distinguish between reliable and unreliable sources of advice. The magazines and journals marked with an asterisk (*) also carry ads for questionable products, services, and/or publications. Few newsletters carry ads for products. Those marked with a double asterisk (**) have been accompanied by questionable solicitations.
