If you do this WOE correctly, and stick to it, it will give you back everything Dr. A promised.
I do it the way he wrote for us to do it. And I'm not so sure that carrying food up and down stairs is equivalant to carrying 300-800 pound objects, up and down stairs.

I feel pretty safe in assuming you didn't lift 800 pounds by yourself. If so, please post a pic of yourself A full nudie should be ample explanation of how you accomplished this feat.
I think your problem was, if I remember correctly, that you were going through the induction flu/withdrawal?

Thank God! I have a truck team member who helps with all heavy lifting.

I never really had induction flu (headaches...etc) but I sure wasn't feeling as much energy then as I did when I ate a lot of carbs. It is still tough on certain days such as the day with the logs, I was talking about in a post above.

A low carb diet already restricts the number of carbohydrates one eats. In essence, you are blocking carb absorption by not eating a great deal of them in the first place. So why would you need to take something that blocks the few carbs you are already eating?
Short Answer: To compensate for carb creep.

Long Answer: My interest in carb blockers, or more specifically amylase inhibitors happened around two years ago when my mom had an accident and broke her hip. My success in following Atkins is mostly due to her home cooking. With my mom in the hospital followed by her recuperating, I had no one to cook for me and had to rely on fast food, home deliveries, take outs, etc.

The main problem here in the Philippines is that nutritional info on food products isn't required. When the economy goes down, food companies and restaurants tend to cut corners by adding carb-laden extenders such as flour or corn starch to normally low-carb foods such as hamburger patties, scrambled eggs, etc.

When I was taking care of my mom, I made it a point to learn about the meds she was taking. One of those was Acarbose, a starch blocker available only through prescription. At first I thought it might by useful to compensate for carb creep. Eventually, I decided it was too much trouble.

            Re: diet pill?

Wow. I took this stuff one time. Once. That is it! I will never take it again. A few years ago, I was doing really well on this woe, but I was tired and harried one day. My roommate was ordering pizza. I thought if I took this stuff, I could eat the pizza and cheat without too much damage. Ugh! I didn't go to the bathroom for days.

            Don't use it!

              Re: diet pill?

So I was reading the thread.....with a natural interest since I used to be a diet pill junkie pretty much! If there was a new breakthrough I was there! And while on Atkins, researched carb blockers, and tried a couple different brands on my last serious effort. It is so easy to get caught up in the advertizing...but this time I will use the best and only carb burner I have seen work so far......physical activity ugh... As much as I hate excersizing, our bodies use up carbs first for energy, since they are the easiest to convert to fuel. Once we "run out" the body has to switch to fat....and since this WOE is already carb restrictive, a work out can always keep our body in fat burning mode. I wish there was an easier way too....trust me!
