Re: You know me..... I have a weird question again

I'm 5ft tall and currently at 114. I am in both 1/2's and 3/4's depending on brand, etc... I think I look my best when I'm around 105-110. I am really small framed and always had a great chest - those puppies are gone now too

I think 130 for 5'1 is awesome! I'm sure once you get there you'll like what you see. Keep up the exercise and you'll be replacing the fat lost with muscle and it's so cool to watch your body transform. Friends and family can put their two cents in, but ultimately, it's up to you, how you feel, how you think you look.

You're doing a great job - keep it up!!

It really depends on your shape, BUT, I am also 5'1"! I have VERY wide hips and a very small waist in comparison, so, when I was 130lbs, my dress size was about a 10.

When I was just starting Atkins, I told myself that 5-10 pounds was all I needed to lose. Anything heavier than what I was then was too big for me, and anything smaller than this goal was "unattractive caved-in-face, angular-bodied eating disorder size." Furthermore, I also was convinced I was really large-boned. Muscular, too.

In other words, Sour Grapes City.

In fact, too-modest goals are something Dr. Atkins discusses in the beginning pages of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, and reading that spoke to me. While it's never healthy to have too little body fat, don't sell yourself short with your goal! Since your doctor knows not only your height, but your actual bone size and density, muscularity, activity level, fat distribution, health status, and age, it is best to take his or her recommended ideal weight range for you under advisement.

Well, I was right about the "muscular" part mentioned above - but it turns out I'm actually medium-boned according to my doctors, making me a lot more overweight than I thought I was for my height. Basically, I set out without a goal weight and decided to stop once I lacked "sit-down-in-tight-jeans overflow" and had a flat stomach and a figure I found attractive. Being trim put me at the weight and measurements I am now. This might well differ from shortie to shortie!

Re: You know me..... I have a weird question again

good point shiela! i am back down to 152 which is 2 pounds above my original goal weight. i am 5'7" with a medium frame and fairly muscular. i wanted to get to 150 (at LEAST for my wedding) and the once there, head on to 140. at 135 i am really beginning to look a little sickly but it has been a long time since i saw myself at 135 so things might look better now!

so according to my numbers....at 140 i would be 4 pounds LESS than the medical average but i COULD go down to as low as 121...which i think i weighed in the 6th grade OR is the size of my right thigh. (hee hee!)

as i said, onward and downward....gotta get these first (last) 2 pounds off and then work on the next 10. then we'll see. like the rest of you, i won't know til i get there. i look ok in a size 6 pair of jeans but....obviously there is still a lot to do:-(

Re: You know me..... I have a weird question again

Instead of focusing on a number (weight), why don't you set yourself a goal of looking good (to YOU) in an outfit that to you is your dream outfit? And why worry about the size of it? Ideally what all of us want is to look in the mirror and know we look amazing in what we've put on. (or butt naked for that matter!). I have no idea what I weigh, but I know that my jeans are too tight and I know that having a roll when I put on a bra is not the look I'm going for. That's all that matters...who gives a toss what the scale says? Give yourself a friggin break....I don't look at scales and I don't understand the obsession at all. If you can give up all those tastey carbs, surely you can give up the numbers game...a whole lot less stress is what you'll end up with.

                Just my 2 cents....

I think it really depends on how much fat you've replaced with muscle. I've seen many "fat-looking" people at 150 lbs and muscular people with awesome bodies that you'd never believe weighed as much as 150 lbs. Set your goal for fitness' sake, and let the weight on the scale and dress size be simply a consequence of being fit.

I am 5.5 and a 1/2...can't forget that half I am going for 135 and I know that my body is quite capable of that because before children I was 115 pounds without dieting. I don't tell anyone besides my husband and the wonderful people here about my goal weight. I know someone would say that I would be "too thin" just so they can feel better about themselves rather than rejoice that I'm healthy. When someone tells me that it looks as though I've lost weight - I say, "Oh my! Thank you, I hadn't noticed." All the while I'm laughing to myself

This was really an interesting thread. I really enjoyed reading everyone's reply. My goal weight is 115. I'm 5' 2.5". I have a medium frame and fairly muscular. I do have small hips though (thanks mom). Any whoo, I just had a physical today and when I discussed the weight issue with my doctor, she told me that 115 seemed small. Well, it is...

Anyway, I also have a ways to go now. I'm wearing 6's and 8's right now (petite though) and will just keep plugging away. I hope to be a 2-4 when all is done. For my height, I do think this will work just fine.

Keep up the great work everyone and also the great words!
