  • Ever had this?

With atkins I do not go hungry if I do what is right, problem is that before atkins sometimes we would not need something to pop in our mouths usually a cookie or a chocolate bar, with atkins "extended induction" there is really nothing to do in between I am not hungry but I need "something" moments...anybody has that before? how did you deal?

    Re: Ever had this?

I drink some water and go do something to keep my mind off it 'til it passes. If it doesn't, I eat a snack of like, cheese or something quick and small and simple.

At the beginning, I would always have munchie foods ready....chicken wings were one of my biggies. Now I might munch on broccoli with tahini dip, or take a stroll, depending on my mood.

I might pop a couple of porkrinds, just for the crunch. I'm a texture girl. This doesn't get me in the AM, just maybe 3:00ish, but not always. It's really kind of fascinating... to think about food all the time, ie planning, shopping, feeling the ketosis feeling, weightloss in general, etc, yet not need to be eating it all the time.

I agree with Robbie... why not make the move to OWL... you get extra food choices and still get to lose weight!

Maybe find something else to do with your hands? If you are crochetting or tatting or scrapbooking or building a model aeroplane you might forget the munchies!

The need to pick at something is really a habit if it is not hunger and can be replaced with another activity.

                    Re: Ever had this?

i smoke and drink water. i know - i'm the picture of health! but i know exactly what you mean. i find myself sitting at my desk sometimes thinking that i should have something but i'm not hungry. i think it's because i work in a very "munchy" office. everyone has snacks or there is leftover catering and people constantly walk past me shoving something in their mouths. i guess i just feel like it's the thing to do in my office. So i grab a bottle of water and if that doesn't work i sneak out and gab a quick smoke. Not that i recommend it

OWL rung one would mean you could have 5 net carbs extra veg to use as snack foods - chopped up raw veg with a 'legal' dip, veggie chips, even pumpkin cake or pumpkun bars or zucchini bread if you made sure all the other ingredients were 'legal' for induction.
Then as you move up the carbohydrate ladder, before too long nuts and berries with cream or baked goods made using them (look in our recipes section for muffins or bars recipes) would be good snacks.

Thanks! I have decided to stay on extended induction..at least until I am strong enough to follow with owl. I just gotta drink more water.

                          Re: Ever had this?

OWL rung one is only different by allowing 5 net carbs of induction veggies on top of your 3 cups on induction, so not a big change but it does allow more flexibility with menus.

Thanks, Maybe I can do that. I don't want to rush it since I already slip the other day haha but veggies should not hurt.
