So, I've noticed that now that I've been reading up on insulin resistance (found out this past summer I am), sugar diets, atkins, low carb, etc, etc and have learned quite a bit about the health benefits - I find it more and more difficult to watch/let my family eat all this carb/sugar filled junk that they have been able to eat in the past! Of course, I don't expect them to make the switch like I am doing so still allow some things here and there but I've noticed more and more I'm trying to substitute their high carby stuff with better alternatives.
I'm adding more veggie dishes for sides to dinner and not as many pastas/rolls. And when I do, I try to use whole grain rolls, etc. I've switched their juices to sugar-free juices. I've started mixing in whole wheat flour when making something that calls for flour, etc.
Anyone else find themselves doing this? Maybe it's just not wanting my kids to end up going down the sugary path and finding themselves battling things healthwise down the road.
And my husband does need to lose some weight and I know he would benefit from atleast a loWER carb diet. So, I'm hoping that my efforts with the family meals will perhaps benefit him in that department, too!
