Re: who are you going to show off your weight loss to?

i don't have anyone that i would like to show off to necessarily, but i would like my children to see my progress. My 10 yr old thinks I am a lost cause, she doesnt remember me at 125 lol, that was at least 5 yrs ago. I think most if not all of my family and friends would be happy and proud that I made a goal and actually followed through with it. Noone around me really knows that i chose this WOL, I dont make a big deal out of it and just do it. ok.. maybe all those gym girls who look all dolled up and fabulous at the gym. lol. I cant wait to be one of them

        Myself!

And, well, everyone and anyone who will look. I'm hoping to lose enough weight to see a difference by the end of April when I go back to Florida. I want to show my hubby and his mother, sister and aunt that I can lose weight. I know it sounds silly, but his mother, as kind as she is, always tells his sister in front of me that she needs to lose weight, and she's like a size 4!
Plus, it felt AMAZING the last time I surprised them with weight loss - in 2005, they saw me at 170 lbs - the next time I visited, I was 134 and they had no idea I was "dieting".
I've not mentioned it this time because the reaction I got then felt so good I want a repeat of it. Silly, I know, but it means a lot to me.

Re: who are you going to show off your weight loss to?

I'm with steph, Myself, and anyone else who wants to notice! and i've got my mom's wedding in october. I don't really want to rub anything in her face, except that she ALWAYS complains about how fat she is (she's like 5'6 147). But every time I've told her i'd lose weight with her she just gives up 12 hours later cause she wants ice cream. Or she'll go buy lo-carb ice cream and eat the entire tub in 1 day. That usually gets me down or is bad for me to be around when i'm trying to be good and she's like "I give up, lets get mexican food!", but this time i'm doing it by myself, for myself, and maybe she'll see a change in me and realize she can do it too and it isn't THAT hard to say no to ice cream!

Re: who are you going to show off your weight loss to?

Oh good question! I am very in between on this. I definitely want to show my loss off to myself in the mirror as I enter the plus size store and go for the smaller size. I hate clothes shopping because nothing ever fits or I look terrible! I am pretty successful for my age, and my DH's social group (which is one huge small town click) has never accepted me - partly because of my professional success and partly because I don't indulge in the drinking and gossiping about one another. They always have a lot to say about me, but the 2 consistent things are I am too opinionated and I am "f'in huge." The opinionated part will never change, but the "f'in huge" will, and is, and for this I kind of want to just go to one of their clicky small minded events and just walk by with my snobby skinny self lol.

I joined the navy after highschool and haven't been back except for a week here and there every couple of years.
I actually had my 10 year reunion last year and I weighed about what I do right now (183) at the time...now in the past 10 years i've gained/lost so many times i've lost count - BUT in HS i graduated at about 160 (after losing 55 pounds IN high school)...and so i was ONLY 23 pounds heavier than what i was at IN high school...well - i went and let me tell you - EVERYONE there - yes after only 10 years - WOW. awhat they say is totally true - alllll the skinny girls were FAT!!!!

and - actually - while again i was about 23 pounds over my goal at that time - one of the girls i couldn't stand from HS - said the absolute NICEST thing to me and I will remember it always. She (who had gained weight herself) - told me I looked "absolutely beautiful".

I can not tell you what that meant to me. and that was even 23 pounds HEAVIER than where i was a few years ago when I'd lost 60 pounds and was at my lightest of 160!

but i totally understand what the original poster is talking about when you want other people to notice.

i would say - now - as far as anyone i'd like to see me lose weight?...well - i want to be skinny (well, back to 160) by thanksgiving for my fiance's family. obviously they didn't know me growing up - but the past 2 years that they've seen me they saw me at about 195 both times. but I only really identify myself with that 160 lb woman and THAT is who I want them to see and meet. (especially his crass a$$ of an uncle who called me fat when we first met)

Awww! What a mean man! I'd be horrified! I have the feeling you acted like a lady and didn't give him what he deserved but I would've let him hear my fat mouth!! Who here doesn't know what you mean though about identifying ourselves only with the best we ever were?? YEARS of avoiding mirrors that might undo the tales we tell ourselves about the extra pounds that are there, that we don't want to acknowledge. You'll get there before Thanksgiving, girl!!

hahahaha no actually i didn't - it's funny cuz after i actuallly talked back to him, we started to banter like that and we got along good - he's the kind that you have to dish it back to him. it's all good. plus he's just a nasty old man anyways (seriously old fat truck driver) i know i shouldn't be mean as he IS dan's mother's brother and i really like his mother - but yeaaaaaaaahhhh while i can "deal" with him - i'd rather not - course, it is HIS house that we go to for thanksgiving and i like his wife - but he's just a(n) *****
but yeah - i just want them all to know me "skinny" :P

That's awesome! I'm cheering for you!!! I'm known for speaking my mind. I told my boss when she hired me that my best and worst attribute is my mouth. I think you should be proud of that! WOMAN POWER! and it looks like you are reaching the end of your weight loss! congrats!!!
