  • Weight Loss at a stand still

I have been on the Atkins diet for almost a month. The only time I lost any weight was in my 2nd week induction. I lost 8-9 pounds. It has been almost 2 weeks after that and I am still at the exact same 8-9 pounds lost. And my tape measure is also at a stand still. I have chosen to continue on with induction, and stay under my 20 net carbs per day. My meals have not changed since I lost the 8-9 pounds.
Breakfast: bacon, 2 eggs, one slice of 3net carb bread
snack: 1/2 avacado or piece of cheese.
lunch: salad with califlower and 1 net carb dressing
    snack: atkins shake
Dinner: meat with steamed veggies, or sandwich rollups without the bread
    snack: cucumbers with cream cheese.

I am exercising 2-3x a week. Any suggestions???

That atkins shake might be holding you back. They are known to cause stalls in lots of people. Are you drinking enough water, like 80oz per day? That can help too.

I feel your pain, I lost 5 pounds in my first week of induction, and I am in my 2nd week of Owl, and just this morning, I am finally down again!

What is in the bread? On induction no grains or soy products are allowed.

The shakes are fairly high in protein so you might be overeating protein if you are not adding fat to the snack. On induction we aim for about 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs, as Dr Atkins said

Finally, make sure you are not consuming excess quantities of protein. When eaten to excess, protein converts to glucose.
How much weight in total are you hoping to lose?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

        Oh - forgot to say

Congratulations on those pounds lost already - an 'average' loss in the whole 2 weeks is said to be between 5% and 10% of the total number of pounds you need to lose, so if you started with up to 150 pounds to lose you are about spot on

Keep at it! You're doing great so far! A lot of people stall out for awhile after induction and its nothing to worry about. You have to show your body who is boss sometimes. I'd recommend dropping the shakes (they're not really legal for induction, its a shame that they are sold as being induction-legal) and trying to get some more fat into your diet.

You also might want to think about moving on to OWL. It sometimes helps people break a stall and it is going to open up lots of possibilities for healthy legal snacks. I'm happy as can be on rung 2 and there are so many more options! Lots of people don't want to move out of induction thinking that their weight loss will slow. I know its not the same for everyone, but after induction my weight loss had slowed anyway.
