How much did you lose and in what amount of time? I only lost 7 pounds on induction and have not lost any the 3rd week or the 4th. Has anyone had the same problem and then start losing and continueing to lose?

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
I think that has happened to most people? Are you measuring? That tells the whole story....not the machine on the floor. Most people have a slowed period for awhile after induction. Many people see increased weight loss once they move to OWL. What you're most likely experiencing is Post Induction Stall Syndrome, commonly referred to as PISS. Here's a link. Hang in there though. The fat has no choice eventually but to make an exit. It's a science. This is just how it works even if you're totally on plan.
Can't find the other link I was looking for. I'll keep looking and get back to you.

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
How much water are you drinking each day? You should be drinking AT LEAST 64 ounces of clear water each day ..... are you exercising? These are as important as the food you are eating. You may want to post your menus for a few days and see if anything jumps out with hidden carbs or too large a portion.Carole_____________________May Water 130oz daily

''Originally posted by jenk View Postthank you soooo much for the info. I am just getting discouraged and wondering if I should just go low cal and low fat. I hope my body is not resistant to this type of diet.
If you think fat loss is going too slow on Low Carb, just wait until low cal/fat. Numerous studies have shown that Atkins is superior to all other diets in being the fastest way for weight loss. Don't starve yourself thinking low fat is a better way of eating.

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
I can understand your frustrations but hang in there. Some individuals have faster metabolisms the others. Try eating smaller meals and snacks throughout the day. Sugar free jell-o has been a lifesaver for me. Try exercising at least every other day even it’s just for a short period of time. The recommended cardio time is 40 min. because it takes 20 min. to burn all the sugar in your body but, if your body has a reduced amount of sugar the only thing it can burn is the fat in your body. Remember muscle weighs more then fat and the more muscle you have the more calories you burn. Hang in there and stay positive.B W - 184

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
How about sharing some stats with us. SW, CW, GW? How much weight do you want to lose? It's important to move up the Rungs according to how much weight you need to lose. How long do you plan on staying on Extended Induction?
Now that you're finished with your first 2 weeks of Induction, you'll be able to see, on page 158 DANDR ,what your Metobolic Resistance is. Are you high, average or low?
I agree with Imagood (carole), post a menu of what you're eating. Maybe there is something hindering your losses and we can help you figure out what it is.

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
To answer the first questions, I lost six pounds on Induction (this time) and only a pound in the next week or so. I am now losing a steady pound a week. I am not resistant but am older and the weight comes off slower now that I am closing in on fifty. I have gone through PISS with my two previous attempts and my advice is to hang in there. You probably are not doing anything wrong, your body is readjusting to its new lifstyle and this will pass. When I am stuck, upping my water to over 100 oz a day helps as does a good butt kicking workout. But sometimes just sticking it out isthe thing to do. If you are a Wait and Whoosh type, this will be your loss pattern so get used to it. How do you know? well, if it happens again and again then you will know that is your body's pattern--but don't give in to your body on the waiting game. Its trying to psych you into giving up. Stick with this WOE and eventually those fat cells cave and you will get a loss.

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
Tomorrow is my four week anniversary. My weight is basically the same as it was after 2 weeks, so I feel your pain! I am working on eliminating salty stuff and high sodium foods, just so that I can see faster results! Hang in there! I'm not going anywhere, I'm sticking to it!

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
I -gained- 5lbs in my 2nd and 3rd week. There was no reason for it. So if there's no reason for your weight stalling and you're doing what you're supposed to be doing, why are you worried? after that initial PISS stall, the very next week i lost over 5lbs. i'm not even finished with week 5, i'm dealing with TOM, and i've still lost 3lbs.
To put something in perspective for you (and i mentioned this in another thread somewhere today) it took me 2 years to lose 24lbs doing it my way. I've lost 14lbs in just over a month on atkins. I may not have lost every single day, but thats still an average of 3.5 a week, which is pretty darn good.
You are FAR more likely to fall off the wagon on a low cal diet where you're starving yourself. So I ask myself, would you rather starve and be frustrated, or feel great and lose weight? -do not over analyze the scale-. the first few weeks are not a good measure of how your ongoing loss will be, i'm proof. after you get into ketosis, you -are- losing fat no matter what the stupid scale says. it could be water. it could be too much salt. it could be too much cheese. it could be etc etc etc. learn from it, and experiment with what might slow you, and keep in mind you've just totally confused your body. Give it a while to figure out what you're doing to it!F/24/5'10"

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
hello!!!! I am one of the SLOWEST turtles on this board. I changed my life back on January 03 - it's been 3 months and 2 weeks now - and I've "only" lost 17 pounds. TOTAL. But the way I look at it? Atkins is saving my life. my family has a history of diabetes and I do NOT want that to be my future. So i'm changing my eating/lifestyle to learn how to eat the RIGHT way by getting sugar out of my system - and hoping that along the way I get the "side effect" of weight loss.
I'm losing just about a half a pound a week (if even) and i am SO happy with that. While it sucks that I don't WOOSH and lose 5 pounds / week like some people do, I've finally found a way of eating that makes me HAPPY and I AM losing weight - even if it is very slow.
I look at it like this - if i "only" lose a half a pound a week - then it'll take me 40 weeks to lose my last 20 pounds...(which is the other half of my goal)...and by then - I'll have learned SO much about low-carb that it really WILL be the way I will eat for the rest of my life. I have the rest of my life to live - what's 40 weeks to lose 1/2 pound per week when, once I reach that goal - I'll be AT goal FOR the rest of my life?
my absolute FAVORITE quote ever:
"Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyways; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use."
Meaning - if you change your way of eating now - and quit concentrating on the scale - your weight WILL get to where you want it to be - time is going to pass - day after day - but you MUST use that time to eat the atkins way and you will get there.Find my blog at: http://keriannmb.blogspot.com/

Yeah - this post really reminded me of that quote - I seriously used to tell myself that ALL the time when I was on weight watchers. But it couldn't be more true.Originally posted by kibskix View Posthah keriann i say that to myself all the time

Re: Has this happened to anyone?
on another note that keri hasnt mentioned, she started out in what, 17s? she's 'only' lost 17lbs, and she's in 13s now! that in itself is proof enough that the scale isnt everything.F/24/5'10"
