  • Caffeine?

Just curious why we have to cut out our full strength coffee? Does this effect weight loss?

    Re: Caffeine?

It has been known to cause stalls in some people. I switched to half caf, can't even tell the difference.

I find my heart rate gets crazy if I drink coffee while doing low carb. Don't know about weight stall, because I've always quit drinking coffee.

In the past I have been pretty liberal with diet Mt Dew and Diet Arizona tea, however. Didn't seem to be any problem dropping pounds at all.

This time around I'm drinking mostly water.

I've read that caffeine increases food cravings, but I can't say that's really the case with me personally, and I take alot of Excedrin which is loaded with caffeine. If anything, it gives me a boost and makes me get up and do something, which would actually burn more callories than sitting, so in a sense it's a good thing

Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar. This can translate into cravings, but not necessarily -- there is a list of blood sugar symptoms in the "Blood-Sugar Symptom Test" on pp. 150-151 of DANDR.

Coffee usually takes away all my appetite...a real suppressant for me, but when I crash...it's a totally different story...I could eat the leg off the couch, or that 's how I feel...suffice to say, I am off caffeine for now.
