Re: Losing too much weight and getting emaciated

Listen. I think you are on the wind up.

I know how national health care works in the UK and in most European countries. If you are unhappy with your doctor, or your doctor is behaving improperly you have the right to arbitration and you can work with your local municipality to resolve it.

You are nto going to be diagnosed here. File a grievance with your local governing board/municipality and tell them your doctor is ignoring your concerns.

There isnt anything else that I can think of that can be done here.

    All the best.

I know you are scared of messing with your blood sugar and gaining weight, but you need to slowly up your carbs 5 per week until you get to the point that you are maintaining instead of losing...

ditto! If nothing else, up your complex carbs (less impact on blood sugar; slower to break down and enter your system) proportionately with other increased intakes (protein, oils & fats, fiber, and even alcohol...). Avoid simple sugars, as in pasta, many drinks, bread and try to break your meals into more smaller rather than few but larger eating sessions to lessen the likelihood of swings you wish to avoid as you increase your overall intake.

It would be nice if this were actually how national health coverage worked, but it isn't. Maybe in certain countries, but in most countries what you get is what you get. Actually the situation this guy is describing is more common than uncommon.

RiverJ- I understand the situation you are in, and I know that induction feels pretty good for some of us with hypoglycemia... Dr. Atkins does say that if you are experiencing hypoglycemia with this WOE you should up your carbohydrate intake. Moving up the rungs more quickly should not be a bad thing for you as long as you are getting most of your carbs from healthy sources and eating protein with every meal. Also nuts are pretty good source of healthy carbs that stabalize blood glucose levels.

Lastly, you need to change something. If you always do what you've always done, then you will always get what you've always gotten. The previous posters seem to have given good advice, and you might want to take their advice since you don't feel well, and don't have the option of good healthcare.
