stickies are the forum posts at the very top of each catagory. They're called stickies because they will always remain on top.

      Hope that helped :3

Tom - I used to feel the same way about the cost of bad things I've bought or others gave me. But, it's not like they'll get their money back for the bread if you don't eat it! Sure, it's a "waste" if it spoils but it's more of a "waste" if it's used to keep you overweight.

You need to put your foot down now and thank them for their thoughtfulness over the $3 loaf of bread, but you have some serious work to do, and that you hope they can be a supportive part of it. Keep the faith, man.

Don't you dare restart on Monday! You've got the ideal mindset, you're getting your ducks in a row, and the last thing you need is a false start! Your family will probably guilt trip you in the future, too, but guess what? You want to start this diet for a reason, right? Then why procrastinate? You'll only make yourself even less happy about your situation. You'll only have three more days of eating improperly to work against. Start right now. You won't regret it.

EDIT: I hope that didn't come off too harsh! I think you're doing a fantastic job of fact-finding, and you sound like a really nice person. I just know that that's what I would've needed to hear. Best of luck to you!

Slapshot has hit the nail on the head here. I always cleaned my plate before and felt guilty leaving food uneaten, especially in a restaurant. "Think of all the starving children in Africa!". It's all BS. If the waitress screws up or I just simply can't change the menu so I receive something that's not "acceptable" in a restaurant or anywhere else, I simply don't eat it and I don't feel a twinge of guilt when the waiter asks if I'm done when there is a big pile of food (usually something starchy) still on the plate. This includes food my friends or relatives make. The kids in Africa aren't going to have access to either the food on my plate or any leftovers, so the guilt isn't legitimate.

It's actually kind of empowering to dump this food in the trash. Hey, it's just bread. Bad economy or not, bread isn't expensive, dump it! When I started, I threw out perfectly good yogurt, crackers, and other foods that were going to spoil before my wife returned from an extended leave. It kind of sucked to throw out perfectly good food, but nobody else was around to eat it and I didn't need the temptation when I was just starting.

Get ready to turn down "good" food on a regular basis. Like Slapshot said, would you rather eat it, gain 3 pounds, then spend over a week on a diet trying to take it off? Or would you rather just not eat it and work on ridding yourself of fat that you already have? Don't get sidetracked by something common like bread and potatoes!
