  • Wingstreet Buffalo Wings?

Ok, I have attempted to look for myself on google and it seems to be impossible to find an answer. Perhaps someone here can help me. I love buffalo wings and have been craving them lately. I make them at home lowcarb style but I know that true traditional buffalo wings are hot sauce mixed with butter and tossed with the wings after they are fried. This results in a very greasy consistency (to me) but it is rather runny too.

Today I went to Pizza Hut that hada Wingstreet attached to it. I ordered a salad and an 8 piece of their skinless traditional medium buffalo wings. When they came I noticed that the sauce was very thick and sticky and it didn't seem buttery or greasy at all. I had already ordered and was at a loss of what else to have for lunch so I ate them. But I am concerned that their wings aren't just hot sauce and butter and that I may have consumed something I shouldn't have.

Does ANYONE here know the ingredients in the sauce wingstreet uses? I made a point to stay away from the garlic parmesan, honey bbq, teryaki, or any other flavor than buffalo but I think I still messed up!!! And I can't seem to find the ingredients anywhere.

    Any help would be wonderful.

    Re: Wingstreet Buffalo Wings?

I googled Wingstreet nutrition info and came up with this: http://www.pizzahut.com/Files/PDF/Up...2006.11.09.pdf

Not sure why you ordered skinless, but I don't see skinless listed on there. Safe to say, however, that judging by the carb counts on the other wings, it's not just hot sauce and butter.

No big deal - lesson learned. Inform yourself *before* going out.

PS The Carcb counts on the nutrition info were for just 2 pieces. Geesh. I wonder what's in them too to have that high of a carb count in just 2 pieces.

        Re: Wingstreet Buffalo Wings?

I need to make a quick correction: I had the non breaded wings, not skinless! So sorry for that mistake. I definitely had the skin! I ate 7 wings. And, yes, it is astounding to know that there are 7 carbs per 2 wings!!!! AGHH! I was trying to find the ingredients to see what exactly made up that carb count. And, I didn't see any "all american" style....what would that be, no sauce at all? Hmmm. I don't know. The only other option would be garlic parmesan, as it only had 1 carb per 2 pieces. I feel so dumb now. I have done so well, and I am kicking myself now. ERRR. Thanks for the info.

Hey, don't sweat it. It happens to all of us at one point or another. You can't go back in time. Just chalk it up to one of those things and remember that a conscious cheat would have been much worse. In this instance, it's the thought that really does count. No big whoop.

what you had they don't list on the Pizza Hut site -- I'd be leary of the ingredients especially if you say they were "thick and sticky".....

Live and learn -- next time just have the salad and leave their wings alone....make your own, I do all the time -

                  Re: Wingstreet Buffalo Wings?

I believe she is asking: is it the case that all wings have a large number of carbs in them. The answer to this is: NO! I went to a restaurant where I have no idea what they put in the sauce's ingredients. You can make wings at home that are perfectly legal or you can do some investigation work in advance (unlike I did) and find out the carb count of a restaurants wings before ordering and eating them.

As I stated in my first post, traditional buffalo wings are made simply with butter and hot sauce but unfortunately there are many other ways apparently to make the sauce with alternative added ingredients which would raise the carb count.

Just do your research Puggleperson and you should be fine.

I'm not sure if I am doing this response right but I was asking if all buffalo wings have carbs in them because I eat buffalo wings all the time on introduction... I think I noticed an here that there are some wings that you can eat.. Would Chili's wings be okay or do I have to make them at home?

If they have breading or a sauce that contains sugar (e.g. teriyaki wings), then no, you can't eat them. The safest wings are unbreaded wings with a simple hot sauce+butter dressing on them.

                        Re: Wingstreet Buffalo Wings?

Basically, you have to read the ingredients for the wings (and everything else you eat). It's not simply the carb count, but also the ingredients in the sauce, etc. You aren't supposed to eat anything that isn't on the Acceptable Food List for Induction (not even a little bit!). If you can't find the ingredients list, assume you can't eat it. What this normally means is you're best off making the bulk of what you eat. I know, it seemed very strange and impossible to me too when I started. But I have to tell you, I really like cooking at home now, and it is actually quicker to make something for Hubs and myself and eat it at home than to get in the car, drive to a restaurant, waaaait, get seated, waaaait some more, eat whatever they put in the food, pay through the nose, drive home... I do occasionally have a steak and steamed veggies at a steakhouse, though. But even then, it doesn't hurt to find out if they do a seasoning rub (which might include sugar or other things). Best of luck!
