  • Wanting to share with someone [sorry, long rant!]

So, as of yesterday I've been on Atkins for 4 weeks now, and everything's going great - I'm down a dress size in several shops [got a few more to try till I officially hit that goal, but I think I'm there!], have lost over a stone, am getting fitter, feeling better, looking better. The whole lot.

A woman I work with [have been temping in an office for 4 weeks during my summer break] mentioned my weight loss when she saw me on Monday, and has said several times that I look good My Dad too, which is always a big thing for me!

So what is the point in all of this? I'm not sure - I'd just like someone other than a family member or colleague to know, because I'm kinda down at the moment because I don't really have any friends - no-one's phoned me up or been to see me, really, so I haven't been able to share anything with them. Nor did anyone ask me about my Grade 6 exam [I passed!] or my recruitment test for the Royal Navy [passed too!]. I'm quite upset about it, and that I haven't been asked to go anywhere, or even been spoken to by friends with the exception of someone who briefly needed my help - seems like that's all they ever want from me, but such is life. Moving on soon, I guess.

In short, I'm really pleased with everything I've achieved in the past month, passing exams, losing weight, getting on with my fitness etc, but I haven't got anyone besides immediate family to share it with - just looking for a few people in the same boat to share the happiness with! Also planning on putting up some photos soon!

    Thanks for reading!

Oh, and as a side note - where do I get a good potassium and chromium supplement in the UK without seeing my Dr? Couldn't find anything in Boots today, very frustrating!

Well!!! CONGRATS from ME on all you've accomplished this month to improve your life AND your health!! You should be proud of yourself!! I am sort of in the same boat at the moment.

I'm about to hit goal!! I've busted my butt for seven long, mostly TOUGH months. My whole family (EXCEPT ME) is in California this weekend for a wedding. No one is here for me to celebrate with. I have only 2 pounds to go until I hit goal and the way it's been going lately (just melting off) I expect I'll hit goal either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. So, yeah....here we sit in the same boat and I say YAY, YOU!!!! Keep your chin up and congrats on your fantastic progress!!!

Nicole, I'm so sorry you're feeling a little blue, and I quite understand it. You may be losing the weight for yourself, which you should, but all of us want to be recognized for our accomplishments.

I was trying to think of a good piece of advice to give you and I remembered something that an advice columnist here often says. She would suggest that you get out and do some sort of volunteer work. When you're doing something else for others, you'll feel really good, and it's a great way to meet people.

Congratulations on your wonderful accomplishments. You have every right to feel very proud of yourself. Keep up the good work!

          Hi Nicole!

Well, that is exactly why we are here ... to give you the support you need and even when you don't "need" it. This board and the members understand those quiet moments when it helps to have friends.

Congratulations on your exams. You must be extremely proud of yourself. Hold your head up high. Together with your weight loss, you have accomplished so much.

Have a healthy weekend and take a walk or try a new low carb recipe.

I'm sure that someone from the UK will come along and answer your supplement question and where to buy them.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

                Hey Nicole,
You have accomplished alot already, passing exams, losing weight, getting fit, dropping a dress size and all at the tender age of 17!! you have done amazing well
Im sure once you get into the navy you will make a whole new bunch of friends, as you will be a confident young, fit healthy woman. In the meantime you have your ADBB family and friends to support you all the way! Keep up your good work, be good to yourself. x

Thanks for all the replies guys, reading them all really brightened my day
I'm really enjoying the changes I'm making, and yeah, it's be nice if I had some friends in my area to notice, but such is life! I hope it won't be long till I leave home, and meet new people
Plus my dad told me he was "really proud of how I'd turned things around", losing weight and being on week 4 of C25K [awesome program!]. All is well. in the world - my Dad's approval means the world to me! I'll be seeing my Grandma for the first time in about 6 weeks [before I started] on Sunday - she's not very well and so will be moving in - so it'll be interesting to see if she notices a change from the last time she saw me. We shall see

Thanks for the support! Very much appreciated, you guys are so inspirational and supportive, keeps me going through those "oh, what's the point?" moments.
