I am very succeptible (sp?) to carb cravings and very affected by carbs in my body causing me to gain weight. My full name is Katelyn and I got nicknamed Cakelyn in school because I love cakes and breads. I've been on and off Atkins a few times, but this time, I'm willing to do it for life. Last time I got off, I had very stupid reasons for getting off. I had too much of that meaty aftertaste, even with good seasonings and stuff, or with salads, I had lettuce breath, etc. That's what a toothbrush and toothpaste are for and if I find sugarless breath mints, that also works! I got bored of the narrow spectrum of food since our oven doesn't work and we rely on the stovetop and microwave. Nag my dad to fix the oven, duh! Excuses, excuses, nothing but excuses kept me off Atkins and now I'm happy, motivated, and willing to make this work!

How do you deal with those around you who don't eat lowcarb?

Yesterday I met a friend for lunch. There was nothing on the menu I could eat on a low-carb diet. It was all sandwiches, and picking off the meat from a $5 sandwich seemed like a waste of money. It's situations like this that put me in a bind on a low-carb diet.

I'm struggling with this. I looked better and felt better when I lost weight on a low-carb diet; however, I was stressed trying to conform to this way of life - and so was everyone else around me.

How does everyone else keep the stress level down when no one else around you eats this way? My family doesn't, which means two separate meals (the kids hate low-carb recipes). Yes, I can fix meat and plain veggies every night, but that gets old!

Well, i've sort-of stopped but just can't get back onto it like I was able to in the begining.

I was the biggest advocate of Atkins that there is and my mind and willpower was completely 10000% focused. I strongly believe that Atkins DOES WORK but no matter what WOE you are following, if the mind isn't switched on to it and ready, then it ain't gonna work- the same is true for Weightwatchers or any of the million and one other fad diets that are ripping people off all over the UK and no doubt the USA as well.

Atkins did work for me and it WILL work again but I have GOT to be focused on losing the weight and MY willpower MUST be strong - in fact stronger now than it ever has been.

I wish you all the very best and I hope you wish me the same !!

        Take care :wave
