          I know a cardiologist who was low fat his whole life, very lean and fit but embraced the low fat lifestyle. He just had a heart attack. :-( He looks good on the outside but his insides are a mess...

          Anyways, this is a funny thread... funny because it's so true how people just don't get it as being healthy... I've actually had people say it's unhealthy to not eat cookies and ice cream once in a while! lol. denial I think... people want to do what they want to do... The media does NOT help! They get it wrong every time! so annoying... I quit telling people i do Atkins because I just don't feel like dealing with the crap.

            FWL and Hopejoy... thank you...I am glad its not just me.... Because really all I want to do is become healthy and feel better....I am tired of the diet struggles like weight watchers and Jenny Craig have given me...and I really love these boards.. its really been helpful and motivating when I have been dying for a regular soda LOL...

              some people just think they know everything.

              back in january i met with a trainer at my gym that I was thinking about using...yeah - one meeting and I realized heck no! he was allll about "you MUST eat carbs. atkins is SOOO bad for you" blah blah blah - you know the same ol' song and dance.

              He ALSO told me that in order to lose the 36 pounds I wanted to lose #1 it would take me at LEAST a year to do it...#2 atkins would NOT be the way to do it & #3 I'd absolutely HAVE to work out 5 times a week in order to do it.

              well - 7 months later I'm down 30 pounds (6 to go, think i'll do that in the next 5 months? lol) and it was BECAUSE of atkins...and I've actually had to stop exercising due to surgery - in all honesty I haven't been to the gym since May. (although I'm all FOR exercising and love it - and plan on going back once my surgery heals).

              also - my blood work. 2 years ago, when I was diagnosed as "insulin resistant" - my levels were: (Taken October 2007)
              Blood Tests
              Cholesterol *Level is*210*(< 200)
              Triglyceride Level is*130*(<*150)
              HDL****** ***Level is*76*(>* 50)
              LDL******** *Level is*108*(< 130)
              Blood Sugar* Level is*88 (< 110)

              and - while I KNOW they've gone down even more - these numbers reflect only TWO MONTHS of being on atkins (taken March 2009)
              Blood Tests
              Cholesterol *Level is*192*(< 200)
              Triglyceride Level is**114(<*150)
              HDL****** ***Level is*72*(>* 50)
              LDL******** *Level is*97*(< 130)

              so my cholesterol went from 210 (probably more) down to 192 (needs to be less than 200)
              triglycerides went from 130 (probably more) down to 114 (needs less than 150)
              HDL remained around the same
              LDL went from 108 (probably more) down to 97 (needs less than 130)

              so - while I haven't had them done in a while (next appointment is december) - but after only TWO MONTHS and 10 pounds I changed my numbers dramatically.

              now tell me that's not healthy?... lol

                That is really awesome!!!!! I am hoping to get good results for my blood pressure but it hasnt happened yet!!!!... Plus I havent lost a thing in 4 days.. and for me this is when I really have to keep on myself or I will go off the diet.. so...Keep up the great work!!! thank you so much..

                  If you had been shoving Cheetos in your face, while drinking a large bottle of Coke, the pharmacist wouldn't have said a thing about your choice of vitamins or your choice of foods. I guess he thinks you got overweight while eating the perfect diet?!?!

                    Sunny, I have just learned that sometimes one diet doesnt work for everyone...and if someone is on a diet like myself who is morbidly obese, then at least I should be given some kind of encourgement for trying as should we all when we are trying to make ourselves healthy...Oh My gosh did you say coke?? as in regular coke??? I am dying for some!!!
