  • i've got a confession to make.....

On Friday my Aunt and Uncle along with thier son, daughter in law and grandkids came to my house and spent the weekend. They came in for my Grannys surprise 80th birthday party. Friday afternoon I ate McDonalds, then later that night we ate pizza. On Saturday I had bithday cake and more pizza, and real sodas. On Sunday it was quite cool so I made chili and grilled cheese. Today, I am still on my carb binge.

I know that I have full control over what goes in my mouth. It is me and only me that chooses what goes into my body. The only way to stop this binge is to just go back to the induction basics and detox myself of the awful carbage. Why is it I can tell myself this but yet am still binging?

I know that I am setting myself further and further apart from my goals by doing this. I know that the heartburn is really bad eating carby and caffeinated junk. I know this because it is about to kill me know.

I know that if I continue on this track my waistline will only go up and will not go down. I know how awful and bloated I feel. I know how upset I will be when I look at myself in the mirror and see the double chin and the spare tire I carry.

Is this not enough for me to change my evil ways and live the atkins way for good? I need to get back on but I am struggling right now. I have got to get a hold of myself and do the only thing that works for me. When I go thru induction the heartburn goes away. In induction that awful bloated feeling goes away. In time I know that the double chin and spare tire will go away.

Starting now, I promise myself that I will do my best everyday to live the atkins way. I will write down everything that I consume and keep an accurate count of the carbs that go into my body. (I haven't been the very best at counting carbs.) I will take my supplements and exercise. When I think of straying I will come to this site and get in the right frame of mind to not cheat or indulge in something that is forbidden for the time being. I am a wife and a mother. I deserve to be the best that I can be for my family. Please, God, just help me along the way!

I know exactly how you feel. I am half way to my goal and I cheated ALL weekend. It makes me wonder why we work so hard to lose then cheat so easily. Its OKAY though. Get back on track tomorrow and go from there.

I disagree, cheating is not okay and coming here and saying that you cheated does not make it okay. You are only cheating yourself when you cheat but until you can control your eating you will not make your goal. Goood luck on finding the state of mind where you can be successful.

That's why it is an addiction. One taste is sometimes all it takes. So get up every day and try for a good perfect Induction day. It may take a few days (or more) to really get back on the wagon but keep trying every morning till you get there.

iam - completely understand...been there, done that! Looks like we are very similar in our stats. I started on 2/1/2009 at 250, current low is 230 [I see yours is 229 - very jealous], but I also had a bad weekend, so I'm up a few.

Just keep moving forward, we will succeed in the long run!

Re: i've got a confession to make.....

              Thanks everyone for your support.

Carole, hello to you. It is good to be back. I just have to stay on track. How's the weather up north? It is a rainy mess down here today.

CandiceD & China Doll - I am back on track today. Taking it one bite at a time. I will keep trying and I will get there. (Actually we will keep trying and we will get there!)

MelTin - I agree that cheating is not ok. I don't think candiced meant that it was ok literally. I think she was just trying to show some support. congrats to you on losing 82 pounds. That is amazing!

Barrnone - not so sure that is my correct weight now. it was last week. with the going off plan and all I am sure it is up. i'll have to check. I see you are from Wisconsin. I had a chance to travel thru Wisconsin on my way to Minnesota this summer. It was a very pretty state. I had never been there before.

I didnt mean that cheating is OKAY to do. I meant that it wasnt the end of the world and that we have ALL been there. Geez.

Re: i've got a confession to make.....

I invested in an iphone app called carbtracker. It's the way I track my carbs - and it counts digestible carbs. The problem with fitday is that I'm on the move and don't have access to a computer all the time.

It takes a minute or so after a meal to use this app. It has a large database but you can also make up your own foods and keep them as favorites for quick use. It also tracks your water intake and you can track your weight on it if you so choose.

Carbwire has an offer right now to the first thirty requests for a free copy of this app:

thanks, I sit in front of a computer all day so fit day is the way to go for me. Plus I don't have an I Phone. Good suggestion for someone who has one though!

Hey, I previously lost my 'mojo' too this past weekend...It started with french fries loaded with tartar sauce & ketchup snowballing into having stuffed shells, mac & cheese, pizza, cheese doodles & birthday cake!!! I was depressed & disappointed in myself for having consumed so much carbage AfTER I worked so hard 2 break my stall. I re-began induction on monday but I was still having things that were not allowed like strawberries or fried chicken (yes with flour!) But 2day NO MORE I'm doing a CLEAN induction starting 2day! It took a rude comment from a jerk 4 me 2 say "I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE! I HAVE TO REACH MY GOAL!" I hope it doesn't take sum1 hurting your feelings for you to jump back on the wagog...best of luck 2 u.

Thanks, NowandThin. Glad you are back doing it by the book. My only problem for the past 2 days is I am sooooo hungry. I don't understand why. I'm hoping my appetite will calm down soon. If not, I'm afraid that I will go wild again.
