  • Atkins Exposed

    Dear Friends,

Alas, I have come across a website:

and having read its contents, plus having no success in my diet, I have decided to discontinue my Atkins WOE. I have found more success in portion control and continued exercise.

I wish the best to those who believe in the Atkins methodology, but I regretfully leave the ADBB. I felt I had found new friends here and I will miss them greatly.

Should anyone wish to contact me (no flames please), you may do so at:

    momma_yamo@yahoo.com

My best wishes to you all and many thanks for your past support.

    Best regards,

    Y. Shibata

The Father of the Low-Carbohydrate Diet

Whether we like it or not Low Carb Diets are here to stay. It matters not if we blame Atkins, Willett, the Hellers or even Suzanne Summers there is going to be someone who will be touting Low Carb Diets for our patients and there will be controversy. But where it all start.

PS. I EAT APPLES 1/2 SMALL OR MED I COUNT AS A SERVING!

"The Atkins Diet and its ilk--any eating regimen that encourages gorging on bacon, cream and butter while shunning apples, all in the name of weight loss--are a dietitian's nightmare."

I'm sorry to see you go. This is another unresearched slam to this WOL. Notice how they "forgot" that we eat tons of veggies, incorporate dairy and fruit and whole grains.

Please come around and visit. We will miss you :hug

When the first page starts with statements like
"The Atkins Diet and its ilk--any eating regimen that encourages gorging on bacon, cream and butter while shunning apples, all in the name of weight loss--are a dietitian's nightmare
I know I shan't take too much notice of what it says - they haven't read the book, have they?
Or maybe I missed the chapter on gorging ensive
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

I am truly sorry to see you go, and to have let people who have no research and no true knowledge of this way of eating chase you away from it. May you have success in whatever you pursue. We will always be here to support you. :hug

Not every diet is for everyone. Sorry to see you go and hope you will drop by from time to time and let us know how you're doing.

As for the Atkins naysayers ... 'let 'em eat cake.'

Weird...I'm eating healthier than ever, not going out to fast food anymore, and eat tons of vegetables. I've also lost a good deal of weight, my bloodwork is healthier, and I feel better...strange coincidence this all occured while I was on this WOE... ensive

what people never seem to get is that I don't sit around eating meat all day. In fact, I eat the same meat portions as everybody else.. I just eat veggies with mine, while they eat bread, pasta, or french fries.

I agree with higgies ... my eating habits are by far much healthier .. I never eat fast food (if you want to call it food) ... Seeing Supersize Me cured any desire for that crapola!

And the only veggies I ever ate before Atkins were corn and potatoes, both of which are STARCH!

Have a read of both links. They are both transcripts of an interview

They make an interesting read as they start with doubt (as most non-believers in Atkins would do) and the interview turns around to give praise.

Wow you are easy to sway!!!..one website and it is over for you ..that is too bad it was a pleasure having you here!!!

I am glad you posted that....but seriously....if I ate like they claim I would be HUGE and sick!!!!

whatever you choose it is up to you ..but like anything else I think that paying close attention to the actual rules of the Book is the most important thing I do not eat bacon or any of the crap they are talking about .....I eat three healthy meals a day with all food groups in them.......anyone who gorges does not loose weight or gets frustrated and quits.....

I wish you happiness in whatever you choose!!!!

Good luck in any path you should choose. I have read all the detractions, and in the end, I have not seen the damage reported or otherwise in my blood work or certainly in the effectiveness of the diet. I certainly saw first hand the dangers of trying to follow a low cal weight loss plan and fail miserably, but that is neither here nor there. My success won't convince those on atkinsexposed the error of their science, and their science or writings will never convince me otherwise. It becomes a stalemate. I celebrate in the fat that they have written off, and my life has only gotten better. There are many ways to do Atkins, but here's to the high red meat and high fat approach working in my life.

Take care and I wish you much luck in whereever life may take you.

I find it impossible to dispute or debate the success of bowulf and 2big.

                          SIMPLY INCREDIBLE!!!

I agree 100% the only "side effects" I've experienced are for the better. However you have to make a personal decision for yourself so good luck with it!

I would like to add that there is always someone saying that this or that is bad for you. If we listened to all of the warnings out there then we would be walking around with oxygen masks on all the time because the air we breathe is killing us. I was told lose weight or die. I am healthier than I was when I was 5. I am here to stay.
