  • Will I still lose alot of weight if I am already in the healthy range?

I weigh 119..my height is 5'5..although it seems a healthy weight but I am not that toned and I want to be as fit as possible..i have a mini tire when i sit down so I dont think Im that healthy..is there anyone who lost alot of weight starting at an already ok weight?

And the other question is that some people have said its okay to drink milk in phase 2- ongoing weightloss..but on the website..it doesnt include milk..so which is it..will i ever be allowed some milk on phase 2 or 3 or whenever? i just need it for my milk tea....

Milk is allowed in OWL Rung 2 and can be added back following the Rules of OWL: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...rules-owl.html

Something else. If you consider you need to lose weight, then, in my opinion, you should be doing Pre-Maintenance, not Induction or OWL.

If you're already in a healthy weight range, you might want to consider pre-maintenance as Georgiana said, but include a good exercise routine to tone up. It might also get rid of the mini tire you mentioned.
OWL rung 2 for milk... but you can also use watered down cream as a milk substitute if you don't want the lactose in milk.

Happy toning up... I'm sure you'll do very well.

Sorry to say this, but if your weight is in the healthy range it sounds like the gym is more likely to take care of the spare tire than your diet. Losing weight will not help you tone up. There are lots of thin flabby people here in China. They aren't big exercisers. I am a lot bigger than all the folks here but I look tighter and less flabby than lots of folks but it is from the exercise not Atkins.

I am not doing atkins only because I want to be toned, actually, i always base my diet on nutrition. If i am getting all my vitss, efas, protein, this stuff matters the most to me, I dont believe in low fat diets, as we need fat for fat soluble vitamins..atkins kind of fit in to my philosophy plus I already exercise.

I just want to lose 10 pounds plus, and exercise alone cant do that. I never ate bread, rice anyways because I know I am sensitive to carbs, my dad is diabetic and I am a bit insulin resistant. I have always been on a lower carb diet and I hope that by doing atkins I will lose the last stubborn pounds. And I believe diet is the best way to get rid of belly fat, for example if I was on a high carb diet , no matter how much I will exercise, I will still have that belly fat.

Chinadoll, i get what you mean about the small skinny fat asians, I lived in Macau all my life, which is in China,I think theyre body shape is really attractive because they seem to be effortlessly skinny. hehe

Oh Bubbles, one of my favorite restaurants is in Macau--Henri's Galley. Ever go there?

Yes I know what you mean. I think the average size is a 2.

Looking at your current weight/ height - you're tending towards the lowend of the BMI normal range. If you get to your goal weight of 100, you'll have a BMI of 16.6, which is well below the underweight BMI. According to the graph, you shouldn't weigh less than 112.

Realize that when you get to those critical low weights, your body will make adjustments. One of them is to store fat/nutrients in the omentum. Ever seen the refuges from Africa? Skinny scrawny legs and arms, round bellies.

I agree that exercise should be your major focus at this time, rather than losing weight.

The Bmi cant always be accurate, for one thing, it doesnt know exactly what my body fat percentage is, and the other thing is I have a very small frame. I agree is 100 pounds is probably too low but I do hope to get to atleast 110. Once again, I already exercise. I am quite curvy , and would just prefer to be on the slimmer side. Those african kids have kwashiorker, a disease caused by protein energy malnutrition i think which can hardly happen to anyone receiving ample amounts of food. I dont have an eating disorder at all, I eat alot around 1600 calories these days with enough of all the macro and micro nutrients.

Its below the Penha church along the stretch that used to be the coastal road before they built the manmade lake and the tower. It is sort of across from the tower. Avenida de Ribiera I think (my spelling is probably off) It doesnt look like much. The decor is basic and kind of drab but the food makes up for it. I took my firends there and it sounded like that scene fron "when Harry Met Sally" where Meg Ryan fakes an orgasm in the deli. LOL Only they were gasping and ooohhhing over the food! But if you like spice, he does a great King prawn in chili sauce (get one and split it with someone-they are big), great African chicken, curried crab, and his stir fried clams (cilantro, chili, garlic) are so good I could eat them all day long. For your non Atkins friends, they have to get the banana fritters for dessert and of course, a bottle of vinho verde.

Bubbles, what ab work do you do? If you hate the gym, give a pilates class a try. The classes are great for firming that midsection and lower tummy "pooch".
