  • Lower Back Pain and Ketosis

Has anyone else experienced lower back pain during their first few days of entering ketosis?

I drink water throughout the day. And I have about two cups of tea a day with no sugar, splenda, or cream - just plain.

Yesterday I was sweating and today my lower back hurts lol.

What did your pre-Atkins lab work show? If you haven't got the results yet, you should call your doctor for them. Those results would show if you have any pre-existing kidney problems that would not make you a candidate for the Atkins Diet.

No kidney problems. Everything is fine.

I have been doing a lot of reading and its seems like there are a TON of posts where people experience the same thing.

Re: Lower Back Pain and Ketosis

it can take 4 months for your body to produce enough insulin receptors on your muscles

what this means is lets say you have a person who eats naturally in nature which is low carb his body will have alot of insulin receptors all over his muscles so when he eats meat and then up too 58% of protein can be converted to glucose this will fuel his muscles good because he has many insulin receptors all over his muscles and in turn you could call it his muscles are insulin sensitive

but what happens if that same person all of a sudden ate a unatural diet of say super high carbohydrates and of bad ones like pasta bread sugar if he did that his muscles would over flood with glucose which is bad so his body would remove alot of his insulin receptors on his muscles and in turn you could call it make his muscles insulin resistant so they no longer over flood with glucose when he eats bad things like pasta

the problem now though is at the moment he needs to eat bad things like pasta in order for his muscles to get enough glucose to 100% work this is the case for many athletes and one of the reasons they eat all that crappy pasta before a race

but when that high carb diet person starts eating naturally again with a low carb diet his body notices his muscles are not geting enough glucose and are cramping up his body will produce more insulin receptors which can take along time thats why it takes a good 4 or so months for your body to produce enough insulin receptors on your muscles for them to be natural again which is insulin senseitive

most athletes and people who work at the gym are not willing to wait 4 months for there body to produce enough insulin receptors thats why so many of them think that they need them bad pasta carbs which they don't

other good carbs like berries, vegetables and protein from meat would give more than enough glucose for someone with lots of insulin receptors on there muscles

Are you constipated? I have read that it can cause back pains.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
