i would definitely recommend reading the book along with everyone else.
one mega tip that i have found you MUST do is eat your veggies. the weeks where i was a very good girl and ate all my veggies were my most successful weeks.

also, i have found that our grocery bill has gone down since doing this WOE. less take out, dinners out and processed foods.

Re: What can i take to work for lunch?

Initially I had thought my grocery bill had gone up (my thoughts stemmed from the prior post about cost of food) but re-evaluating I found that our grocery bill did go up a little but our fast food/ take out bill went waaay down. So even though the grocery bill went up, the money we spent on food decreased substantially.

I think anytime you start a new way of eating it seems expensive.

One way to shave a few dollars off your food bill is to plan and shop carefully. When I forget something vital like toilet paper, it costs $30, because when I stop back into the store I grab other things that I probably could have lived without. I think this can happen easily when your diet changes - if you have eggs on your shopping list and bring home one dozen, you may run out mid-week. I come across little things in recipes that I want to pick up. The extra trips add up. It takes time to adjust to buying new things. Going to the store more frequently isn't necessarily a bad thing if you prefer fresh vegetables or non-frozen meat, but you have to be mindful of the little extras that make their way into your cart.

Stock up on what you can when it's cheap. I've found coupons for FAGE yogurt, Yoplait Greek yogurt, sour cream, nuts, cheese, splenda. I picked up flax seed meal at Sam's, 40 ounces for just under $10 (vs. $5.99 at my grocery store for a sample-sized bag!!) The expiration on many dairy items is longer than you may think - I threw out a container of sour cream I bought three weeks ago and the expiration date on it was mid-May.

Make sure you check the prices on your produce, too. Buying in season really makes a huge difference. I am so happy to see the price of celery drop a bit - I was paying almost $3 per stalk for a few weeks, now the price is half that!
