Atkins, Pregnancy, and Type 2 Diabetes

I am hoping that someone out there can give me some advice on my situation.
Two years ago, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Eating Low carb has allowed me to keep good control of diabetes, medication free.
I am now about 6 weeks pregnant and am worried that low carb will be unsafe to a developing fetus, such as causing mental retardation.
Yesterday, my urine specimen also showed that I had abnormally high Ketones in my urine. What does this mean exactly? is it bad??
Not sure what to do, what is wrong or right?? Has anyone else followed a low carb diet while pregnant???
