  • Cheese question

Why is it that fitday.com counts 1 oz of cheese as .36 carbs and Dr. Atkins counts it as 1?

    Re: Cheese question

My thinking is that Dr Atkins thought of it as a good way to make us limit our cheese intake to the 3-4 ounces but that is just my opinion!

All cheeses are different in their carb counts - some of the ones I buy have 0.1 or 0.2 carbs listed per 100 grams (3.5 ounces).
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Right, that's what I was thinking, that it was some kind of safeguard. I'd really rather just count it correctly while still limiting myself to 3-4 oz. Is that what most people do, or is it not Atkins if we don't count it as 1 carb per 1 oz?

        Re: Cheese question

I think he just rounded it up just in case you chose a higher carb cheese like cream cheese for your entire amount - covering bases and all but I just count the amount vs rounding up and I am sure he did that so that without having to think about it, people could follow the rules of induction and remain under 20gms/day of net carbs. If you're under than great...I suppose that's the reasoning???

What cheese came out like that? All the cheeses I put in there are over 1 gram an oz.
