I went to the store to buy Flaxseed and all I could find was Flaxseed Oil. Is this acceptable? The label said it was cold pressed, but it said that it was good for menopause symtoms. It didn't mention anything about constipation.

For constipation, you use flaxseed meal, psyllium husks, linseed meal or anything similar. I think flaxseed oil serves a different purpose?

Flaxseed oil is a source of Omega-3 fatty acids---good fats that will help improve your heart health. It really doesn't do much to relieve constipation.
There are 3 fiber supplements Dr. Atkins recommended we can take: wheat bran, flaxmeal and psyllium husks. His "preference" was for psyllium husks. The folks around here use flaxmeal because they use it more as a flour substitute for baking.
