Anyone seen the news lately? I'm hearing thru the grapevine that the superdome's roof has partially collapsed but I can't verify it, I'm at work and have no access to TV and I can't get the online stuff to play for some reason.

As of about 10AM Eastern, there were places where the roof had been torn off, bout 1 ft long, but I hadn't heard about any collapses.

Oh! Well that is good news! I was hoping that it had been blown out of proportion! Thanks for the update!

        Re: Katrina

Are you able to access Google's news links or the online newspapers directly? I usually read www.chicagotribune.com . Katrina's dropped from a category 5 down to a 4, but that's still awfully wicked.

Thanks for the updates! I was able to get on MSN to watch streaming video but it just went out too. I think there are just too many folks trying to access the info and its bogging things down. I'll keep trying. Sad thing is, we have a huge flat screen TV in our lobby, but they won't let us watch anything but Stock/Market information on it, plus there's no sound.

              Re: Katrina

they're out of the woods as far as the WIND... the storm surge and the flooding is still CERTAINLY a huge deal...

my kids are asking and I'm trying to find out what day Katrina was declared a tropical depression...

(don't worry I'm not scaring them to death... they're middle school..... mostly teenagers... and they've been assured we're supposed to only get some rain from this one.. unlike Ivan last year)

I watched the news this morning. How horribly depressing. The Governor of Louisianna said it would be weeks, possibly months, before New Orleans is inhabitable.
