My Daughters Classroom Fund Raising Project for Katrina Victims....Please Read.....

My daughters 4th grade classroom will be making beaded bracelets to help raise money to send to the American Red Cross for the Katrina Victims...

These bracelets are made with plastic beads and stretchy string...please keep in mind these are made by 10 year olds who are making these from the heart, not professionals...but in my opinion...THEY ARE PERFECT!!!!

My daughter made the one this evening shown in the picture below...colors and patterns may vary, can "try" to do requests on colors...


please donate what you can to the American Red Cross or another way...


Ive been told selling these for donations are against the rules here so ive changed that....but anyway...i think their school is awesome!!!!

I agree... yesterday 2 of my kids.... and me... cleaned up the book room.. it was CHAOS .. one of my little sp. ed. boys said 'we didn't have to work in social studies yesterday'.... and I explained how what we did WAS a good thing.. .and he learned (about if the shelf was tall enough for that particular stack of books etc.)... but he was most pleased that he'd just helped out...

kids often WANT a chance to help... and just don't know how...

I'm sitting here misty eyed.. BECAUSE.. I teach sp. ed. kids.. and we do a 'behavior management point system'...


basically they behave.. get 100 points a day.. then on Friday I open my 'store'.. and they spend their points for stuff like pens, pencils, gum, maybe a sucker or something... etc. etc..

they just asked me if I could buy stuff from the list for Katrina victims.. that THEY could buy from me.. with their points... then donate back to the katrina victims....

it's all I can do not to bawl right now I'm so proud of them......

and I guess I'll be shopping for garbage bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer etc this afternoon....

we gotta help 'em grow..

one more thing... in talking about the looting.... some kid said they would take stuff to live on... food for the kids etc... but they'd keep up with it... and when the store opened, they'd go back and pay them......

and guess what? I believe them

I know what you mean...DH and i have talked about it...why dont they "help" those who need things, get what they need (within reason of course) food, diapers, drinks, etc....I mean the store owners have insurance that will pay for whats lost anyway and its going to go bad anyway....ah well....

twisti, please let your daughter know that well wishes are with her on this endeavor. i am sure that anyone interested that sees your post can contact you through pm's.

it is probably a project that will take off. i have seen this sort of thing done in other areas for other causes and it always seems to be a positive note.

all the stores aren't covered with insurance... and if they ARE.. imo it doesn't give people the right to take tv's. guns, jewelry.. etc.

one of my kids said he'd take food then go back and pay for it when the store owner came back

Just wanting to update yall...

Jessica has now made over 100.00 in donations for The Red Cross...this is not including what family has donated... Im so proud of her and shes just tickled pink... There are 16 kids in her classroom making these bracelets and collecting donations for them... just think if all 16 kids get 100.00 or more, what a blessing that would be... Even my 7 yr old son is helping his sister make these... Ive got great kids lol
