You know what is bad - Ethanol E85 (85% E, 15% Gas) is now up to about the same price as regular gas. It wasn't long ago that there was 80-90 cent per gallon discount for the stuff ($1.60 vs $2.50), but now all the ethanol is purchased. The difference where you can find it is only 15 cents a gallon. This on top of somewhat reduced mpg performance as well. Time to start building more ethanol refineries.

I just can't afford to go out just for the heck of it, anyone have anymore ideas?
I'm sure that was a typo and it's at $2.49. I did that recently when talking about the price of gas and reminised on how high gas used to seem but now those are 'the good old days'. In the 70's gas crisis I was in grade school and my friend and I made posters of the earth with a fuel gage on it running towards empty asking "What will we do then?". It's amazing how alternative fuels get a lot of attention but never get to the big mass productions because of their costs and lack of convenience. It's easier for us to go with what we're used to then to push for the new fuel options at reasonable costs.

As a nation, we're generally used to driving when and where we want. What happened to car-pooling, combining trips, using bicycles, walking or using public transportation whenever possible? Complacency is an easy place to get to when life is good. Even now, are people really slowing down on the freeways to conserve gas or continuing to drive like they're used to? Just curious. It's like weight loss... you can suddenly change your habits temporarily and get some visual results (driving less/better mileage/etc) but then when we get used to where we are will we continue with our good new habits --and possibly increase them-- or go back to our old habits?

        Just thinking out loud.

Phoenix prices are ....Well, I saw one place that was 2.99 and most others were 3.13 or 3.19. nothing really in between. I have to go and get gas tonight. Though, on the way to my brother's, I passed 2.99 and was gonna get gas on the way home and hour later. The 2.99 turned into 3.11 in an hour...Good for me I am not traveling anyplace this weekend. Maybe after a 3-day weekend, prices will drop again.

What gas? Our pumps are roped off. And where they aren't, it's easily $3.50 a gallon. Uhg.

You know i'm seeing that here too...there can be a .20 difference per litre (and that's a huge difference) from station to station.

They're saying here that the small independant stations seem to have the lowest prices and i've noticed this is true, so i'm trying to avoid the big companies.

Ours has gone down a bit, but we're still about about $4.30 to $4.50 us a litre.
