Response rate on the closed men's forum

A very slack count on the men's forum suggests the ratio of men who read a thread to those who contribute is 10:1, and 10% of all new threads get no answer at all.

That is a significantly lower level of active participation than in the open forums.

I cannot assess what the rates are on the women's forum. Would some lady like to produce the figures for the closed women's forum?

I guess the girls are a lot more talkative than the boys.

I don't know where this thread is leading but, please don't suggest that they be open. I might be tempted to read some of the women's forum and I don't really want to go there. It would be like a car wreck. I really don't want to look, but for some reason, I can't help myself. And sometimes, what I might see, would just be gross.

I joined the women's forum once upon a time and promptly unjoined. I like it that way.

once upon a time, many moons ago, the mens forum and womens forum where open and while we did have some great input from men in the womens and vise versa - it really is better that they are closed. This way guests can't access our private discussions.....and yes, women are more talkative then men.

Women have more issues to discuss, and men really dont want to hear it. SO yes we chat more and do get responses

I was a mod way back when the men and women forums were open. There were a couple of men who kept reading and posting "oh, gross" type of comments. Really annoying. That is why they will remain closed, I'm sure.

I don't know why the men's forum is slow right now, but my guess is that it goes through cycles. At some point there'll be a couple of threads that catch everyone's attention and it'll be sizzling away.....

if your views to replies is 10 to 1 you have a much better response to view rate then the first page of the topics in the womens forum does. the responce time to posting of a topic is pretty fast though.

it really depends on what the topic is as to how many reads and replies it gets. remember titles don't always tell you what a topic is about nor where it went after it got hijacked LOL
