My day has been one disaster after another from the moment I woke up this morning and I need to VENT VENT VENT.
At six am, whoever occupies the bedroom above mine in the upstairs apartment started BLASTING 50 Cent's "This is How We Do." Which, for those who don't know, is outstandingly obnoxious and bass heavy and really startled me. However, it was so outstandingly loud I thought my computer had turned on and started playing, or my iPod, or something of the like. I tried to bang on the ceiling to no avail, and ended up just laying in bed and suffering thru. This went on, with the same song on repeat, about 9 or so times (20-ish minutes).
At 8:30, my roommate left for work and her puppy started barking so I had to go out and make sure he was ok (we're trying to keep him as quiet as possible so we don't have to pay the complex a pet deposit! Sssh don't tell!). He decided he needed to go out, so I had to bundle up and take him out.
I then spent several hours trying to get our new cable Internet to work, finally realizing that I could fix the biggest problem with a cable splitter that they neglected to give me (but were supposed to!) during the installation yesterday. I called the company, hoping that they would be able to drop one off for me, and they refused saying there was no one near my house today. I subsequently had to root through my roommate's stuff and run a looooonggg coax cable (eyesore) to the living room to get stuff hooked up at the time being. Yuck.
After several hours of her puppy attacking me while working (playfully but still, he's got some teeth on him!!), he peed on our nice new carpet =( While I tried to put a paper towel on it to soak some up, he came in and snatched up the pee soaked paper towel which required me to chase him to get it away. Can someone say gross?
Finally, it was time to make something to eat. I tried to make up the hash browned zucchini recipe that's floating around the forum, but something didn't quite click with me and it both tasted and smelled awful (I followed the damn thing to the letter, too!). Regardless that I cleaned up the kitchen, washed pots and pans, the smell of the gross garlic-eggy mixture I had is sticking no matter how many windows I open and makes me sort of sick whenver I enter a new room.
The WORST part of the day, however, was receiving an e-mail from my bank saying that my account had been hacked. I needed to do some money transfers, so I entered the required information to get my account to work again from the link in the email.
Not an hour later did I receive a ANOTHER email from my bank, saying the previous email I'd received had been a scam and I needed to change my password and call them right away to report my debit card information stolen and that I'd been a victim of phishing.
AUGHGHG
This is where I have to stop the story, because I know if you've stuck around this far, you know I sort of had it coming but submitting my information without even thinking twice. I am not stupid, I am not one of those people who gets viruses and submits her name and whatever to everything she gets but somehow it got me. My bank is a small Virginia credit union, and the page that required me enter information was EXACTLY the same template as the traditional banking page, including links that worked, etc. I also have had to have my password reset before, so it didn't occur to me that any of the questions they were asking were strange. SIGH.
So theoretically there's no harm done (password changed with no money gone, and new card in the mail), except for some creep hacker showing up at my door some day in the future knowing my name and other weird information.
Somehow I've gotten in this mood where I know I need to eat something, but nothing I have sounds good. I can barely work up an appetite. I managed to work out somehow, and I've been drinking water and taking vitamins but I still feel outstandingly tired and lethargic and not hungry and just miserable. All I was able to make for myself was some buttered green beans and even those didn't quite taste right.
SORRY FOR ALL THE VENTING, especially if you've read this far. But seriously, what a Friday. Sheesh.
