    Hi,

do you keep a hand written journal?

I've started over and over again throughout my life, but somehow I just can't stick to it, which seems crazy, since now I write for a living. I have several blogs, one of them being a medical journalist blog, and I write lots over the day.

I feel that writing by hand as opposed to typing (I think I've done most of my writing in the last 20 years on typewriters or the computer, except homework and exams at school / college) could be quite useful, it is a skill I use rarely - which I noticed wiritng all my christmas cards, gosh, my hand was sore.. I've started writing a journal on the computer, too, but it doesn't feel right...

I am thinking about doing it again, but I have no idea if I can keep it up. Any thoughts on old fashioned journaling / diary keeping?

    hey Yem!

I'm intrigued by your mentioning you are a writer! I'm really determined to start writing but haven't started yet! I've even joined a writing group, and still haven't begun to write on a regular basis!

      Diva,

it is like in the Nike ads: just do it. Writing daily helps a lot, You can still toss what you don't like afterwards. Something which might help you ist "The Artists Way" by Julia Cameron - it is a program to free your creativity, which includes the daily wiritng of three pages in the morning which no one will ever see but you. Another one of my favorite books on writing is "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg.

What do you want to write?

Right now I am about to finish a project witha co author (probably non-commercial after all, it is a special interest cookbook for live action roleplayers) and I am trying to decide whether I should write a mystery novel or a fantasy novel first. I do write book reviews whenever I have finished a book, for a review website. There are several websites which publish reviews - if this appeals to you, like the Midwest Book Review. I think they don't pay, but at least it is published

I hand journal my Atkins cause it is easier to keep it with you and write it right then then remembering it all for when you sit to type it.

I journal, for atkins and for personal. I found the best way was to schedule my personal journalling. About 30 min. before bed is journal. No ifs ands or buts. Just me and my journal. My family has learned to respect that(plus the kids are in bed) But if it is scheduled like any other job, task, then it gets done.
