    Re: Calling All Dog Lovers!

LOL Jerz, I've seen folks with their little dogs in strollers, but never with the netting.

There is a woman in our neighborhood who has, I don't about 8 or 9 little dogs. The older ones she pulls in a little red wagon while she takes the others for a walk, they look like they are so old that they aren't capable of walking anymore.

Why couldn't I think of that and make my million?
Hey, I've seen one of these too, but can't remember where...online? Shopping?

Yeah, this looked like it was made for the dog. If it wasn 't --- look out Mr. Patent man! LOL
9 dogs is a LOT! But, at least she walks them. I see dogs in kennels all over our neighborhood or tied to the leash... I feel so bad for them. I know they're probably being loved but.... geesh - let 'em out once in a while!

Oh that would break my heart! Everyone in my "hood" walks their dogs! Thankfully I never see any tied up! Although Giz does sit out in the yard while we're on the porch and she is on a leash, a 25 foot one! But we never leave her out there! She'd die from heat exhaustion!

That's sweet that she walks them in the wagon. Poor little doggies.

Those of you who know what the ABC Distributing catalog is or possibly even The Lakeside Collection will find the stroller for dogs in there....it had the look of one of those grocery carts that people can buy...but instead of the metal cage for the bags, there is an enclosed...thing...hut, tent, whatever that has mesh around it so that the dogs can sit in it as you roll them along and they can still see out and get fresh air.

When DH takes the baby out, he doesn't use the harness and leash, but I use it because I don't have the verbal control over her that he does. If it's still daylight when he takes her out, he takes her out back and lets her run around the backyard.

We've been having very high humidity along with temperatures in the upper 80's/low 90's (heat index is in the upper 90's - sometimes 100). I'll take her out and as soon as she's taken care of business, she wants to come in (Thank goodness for central air!!!!). And she goes a gets a drink of water

Yea, I know what you mean about the heat and humidity, we've been in the mid to upper 90's here for a while now and all you have to do is step out the door and you're dripping wet from the humidity!

Gizmo can't take the heat for long either. Espcially since she's so short and close to the pavement! Add to that the fact that she's almost 12 years old and black, she's a heat stroke waiting to happen!

Her walks are very early in the am (6am) and if she takes a walk at night it is after dark. Ususally she doesn't want anything to do with a walk during the summer, she is content to hang out in the yard with us. She usually plops down on the nice cool concrete on the porch in front of the fan if she's out for any length of time! She also loves the air conditioning! And I fill her water bowl from refridgerated water, sometimes even adding a few ice cubes!

Coop is your baby a pitt bull? they've passed a law here that ALL pitbulls are banned, and any existing ones must be muzzeled and 'fixed'. it makes me sad to see them walking with big leather muzzles on in this heat, i keep thinking they can't pant properly. Morons that don't want to fix them are just abadoning them in parks etc. It also causes an issue as many ppl have been fined for not muzzling dogs that just look like pitbulls. I figure the ppl that were training pitbulls to be vicious will just pick a new large breed, like a rotweiller, then what are they going to do..ban them too?

                        Anyway..sorry for the rant LOL.

My stepdaughter has a stroller for her pug lola, it's just sort of a novelty thing for her, she does walk the dog. She got hers at Walmart here, they also have them at Petsmart which I believe you also have in the US?

Yea, Sadie, she's a pit bull (or should I say, she's mostly pit bull, with possibly some lab mixed in). She had been fixed long before we got her, but she won't tolerate a muzzle. I truly believe that it's all in how they're raised. Granted, the jaw is extremely strong, but that doesn't mean that some other breed of dog isn't capable of giving a serious bite.

Last Christmas, we went over to my bil's for dinner. He asked us to bring "Girl". (He has two Boston Terriers - mother and daughter). When we got out of the Jeep (we had the harnass and leash on "Girl"), he came out of the house with his two dogs, but no leashes. They both immediately ran towards "Girl" and went after her. Doing what a dog does to defend itself, she nipped the older dog by the ear in self-defense. Although we didn't like what she did to bil's dog, it could have been alot worse, considering, as I said before, how strong the pit bull's jaw is. She drew a small amount of blood, where as she could have ripped the dog apart. Normally, she is very, very loving, protective and such a sweetheart. If you told me a year and a half ago that I was going to have a pit bull (or a medium to large dog, at that), I would of told you that you are crazy. Now, I wouldn't know what to do without her (that goes for DH, as well).

                                Sorry for the rambling!!

                                P.S. Lola is adorable
